Now that it's coming back on CC, this is the golden age for futurama merchandise to appear.  After all there was little to no Family Guy merchandise during the show's initial run and look at it now.  I'm guessing they'll at least do t shirts and posters, but they may expand it into other areas like futurama themed board games or a futurama poker set

Ohhh... a Futurama monopoly would be cool. all the hotels and various other things could be totally redone to be futuristic, and some of the game pieces could be Professor's inventions or something. So many possibilities, including replacing the classic dog with Seymour. Soundtrack are also conventional, since a wider range may buy them if they like the song selection. Action figures or plushies would be a godsend, and posters and t-shirts would certainly adorn my room. No question. I'd buy multiples. Some to frame, some to wear...Permitting I had the money.

Trading Cards!!!!
I think we will see some type of figures come out again as that always seems like the logical choice for almost any property.  Beyond that I would not expect too much off the wall stuff like Simpsacrap as I don't think Groening would allow that.  My guess along with figures would be more types of art like the giclees and other similar prints.

Trading cards is a marvelous idea. Maybe bobbleheads. They did have an episode, The Farnsworth Parabox, with Bender, Fry and Leela bobbleheads. It would reference the episode and be merchandice.

Demeter - the probelm with more fan sites is the possiblity that FOX will act like complete bastards again and send 'Cease and Desist' orders to shut down the sites.  Nevermind that the few major sites left running have been instrumental in the revival of the series, corporate lawyers like to flex their muscles.

Yeah, more posters.  Maybe another video game.

@ Demeter: *cough* I have a site you know about *cough*

@Ralphie: I spent days[/i] hours on end playiing the original game. It'd certainly be quite the item for my collection, and I'd hope it'd be on a game system I could afford, like the Wii.

I'd like to see a futurama chess set, with different characters on each side, a good quality one. I think there is a simpsons one, so you never know!

@ Dai: Yeah, there is a Simpsons chess game out. I think the pieces are just the Simpsons family for both  sides, but I've only seen it in stores, so, it may have other characters.

I think there is one cheep one, where all the pieces are the same on both sides, but there is another more expensive one where the characters are different on each side, I could be mistaken, but I seem to remember seeing them in a magazine - possibly for the gadget shop

Well, I certainly don't doubt it. There's a whole load of chess sets out there. You can google it, or ebay it and she what comes up. eBay has their own Simpsons section.

I'd like to see a line of mid- to large-sized, high-quality, posable action figures.
A line of model kits could be cool too, like the PE ship and the Nimbus. With the show's style, the ships are all pretty simplistic though, so maybe not just ships, but robots too; the PE ship might have level 1 and 3 kits (3 having lights and more working, moving parts). I'd love to spend a week putting together a level 5 Bender model, articulated down to the fingers.

If it shoots flames from it's mouth and/or ass, all the better.

ahh, a fine choice in merchandice, my dear Gopher. Models should also be sold pretty much preassembled, you know, like the new Star Wars ones that hold the figures. That way, modelly challenged people can enjoy things too.  ;) *hint at self*

There are already Futurama playing cards.... you could play poker with those?

And ralphy, although C&D letters are evil, they don't really do much.  Besides sites that got them either didn't have a disclaimer (a must have, which we try to tell anyone with half a brain) or they had content that didn't need to be on there (*cough* episodes).  I would personally love to see an influx of quality fansites pop up.... the real problem there is the word "quality".  Although, I encourage anyone that wants to do a website to head out with a heart full of ambition, I see more sites with piss poor layouts and message boards that have little reason to exist than I can handle....

I think there should be Futurama soap. Nothing like rubbing some Futurama all over your hot, dirty body. They should also carve all the characters onto the ass of the Statue of Liberty. While I'm at it...a Futurama hackysack. I'd love to kick that piece of shit Cubert around. Holy ball juice, I want Futurama on everything!!! LOLOZRROOSOSORJ#OIT$JOTJ$GJIJGoiw4tho

Exciting times!

That is great news Bendo! I sure do hope they have some cool accessories like the original line of figures did.
I also think a model of the PE building would be fun-if not tedious detailed work. Maybe a huge model of it premade with working lights, a ship in it you can mess with, a few action figures...Sure it'd only cost a small fortune, but hey, it'd be damned cool.

tyraniak: That would be awesome! I don't buy much merch, but I'd buy a futurama nativity scene. It should come with all of Zoid's larval stages for the baby jesus, so you could swap them out every day through the holidays.

Zoidy: I dunno, assembling a large PE building model could be fun, but what the hell do I do with it when I'm done? if it won't fit on a shelf when I'm done, it'll just end up in the attic or something.

I agree with you, Otis!  There should be an episode guide book, especially since the show is coming back in two years.  There should be more action figures, apparel, beach towels, and maybe even some plushies.

There is not part of that sentence I didn't like.  Beach towels would be so awesome... *dreams of buying a Fry beach towel and worshipping it, along with many other Fry things* Ohhh yeahh...

I recently thought of something. Rubiks Cubes with the main characters' heads. Of course, who wouldn't want to solve them to get a cool looking...head to put in your collection? It'd even come with a jar with their name on it to put it in afterwards.

How about Futurama cookies and cereal?  Here's an idea, what about Futurama plushies that come with costumes?  A plush Fry comes with a safari outfit and a pith helmet.  A plush Bender comes with a pinstripe suit, fedora, and tommy gun, and a plush Leela comes with a ninja costume with numchucks.

Plus, Futurama soda pop, water bottles, shoelaces, windshield wipers, and mudflaps, too!

A question related to this thread, do you think in the last year or so, if Fox and Adult Swim will try and churn out as much merchandise as possible before they lose the show to CC

Hmm. Interesting and good question. Back a long time ago before Adult Swim apparently redid their site, (or maybe I was on another site like hottopic.com) they had Zapp Brannigan guns for sale... Now, all they have for ads is damned lemons. (seriously, go to adultswim.com. Lemons everywhere and I'm baffled as to how to get to their shop .) Anyways, back to your question tyraniak, I think it's possible...But seeing as how FOX hated the show all along, I doubt they'll sell anything. I'd be really taken aback if they did. Adult Swim is a little bit different story. They might make more magnets or some small stuff, or go full out. Since they sell all kinds of crap for other shows (like hoodies, bags, etc.), they may try to sell that kinda stuff with Futurama on it. But I think it'll all depend on how they feel about the show and if the merch will rake in some big bucks or not...which it probably would.

I want to see what everyone else pretty much wants to see: Futurama soundtrack, new figures, beach towels, plushies (a stuffed Nibbler would be adorable as would the Futurama characters in their younger forms from Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles), and clothing. I would also like to see the old merchandise rereleased because a lot of it can only be found on ebay.

Maybe a futurama risk/like game where players can chose races like niblonians, decopodians, robots, or omicronians, and see which one can conquer the universe

It'll never happen, but a futurama-based MMORPG could be a lot of fun.

Next time I've got a team of 50 coders and artists with a few years' worth of free time, I'll make one myself.
