In response to that...

Nothing says Fry and Leela from the main universe won't get married.  I'm big on the idea of "honeymoon" pics... because there are a lot of things I want to do on my honeymoon besides sex.  Like go to Disneyworld, and maybe paint something... =D

Rocketshippers are getting older, and creating an interesting fanbase.  A lot of them started out by wishing Mulder and Scully together, in fact.
When it comes down to it, TV couples are the epidemy of eternal love... even if something doesn't last very long in the show, it is drawn out by an extensive group of fanfiction writers and fanartists...
That is why something can last forever, even if it never really happened.
