Just keep thinking and an idea will come to you sooner or later. I personally think that things are easier to write if you came up with them. Like, they flow better if they're from YOUR imagination.

yeah, besides i have tried and people on this board NEVER actually help you with a good idea, there is one exception here and there, but for the most part i say figure it out for yourself.
i have pleanty of ideas, but i plan to use them as a writter in my fan fics. sorry.....
how about leela and fry fall in love? classic, but a good starter. my series started crappily on that note, and look at it now. i still have pleanty of things i can do with it, in fact i plan to intriduce a character of two that have never been seen before, and even kill off some of the crappy useless ones.
as a fan fic writter, you can do whatever the hell you want with the characters. make leela and Amy lesbians, make fry fall in love with Amy leaving leela jelous, make fry have worms again, alot of ideas have been done at least once before, but there are still angles out there that have yet to be done. i have found a less used area, so i am going to fill it with stories and such. just open your eyes and look around. im not going to do it for you, and i doubt if anyone here would be very helpful.
if you immediatly realize that the candle light is fire, the meal was cooked long long ago.

That is a VERY intriguing idea, Venus. I should have taken my (published) fanfic that far. I might even take a whack at something like that, although I do hate to be redundant.

LEECH THIS!!! I now have my own ideas that far surpass anything your minds could come up with. my fan fic series is about to take a turn down a road never done before for any fan fiction story. the next may be the same in most general possibe concept, but is NOT in any way a "leech" off of any other fan fics. as you may or may not know it happens to be about other dimensions. done before, yes, but what happens to the characters, who they meet, what they do, and just about all the other things that can be different are. i understand the preception that all my work is indeed a leech in one way or another of other works, but i assure you that from eight on it is all new stuff nobody has even dreamed of. anarchist can back me up on this one, at least part nine.

Getak, please remember what I told you about getting angry at a string of binary digits. And yes, I can back him up here. I've been working with him recently, and he's not plagiarising anymore.

DAMN THAT'S FUNNY!!!
no, just got tired of the usual "you copied this" or "im telling on you, waaaa!!!" thought you all could use a good laugh ever now and then to spice up this otherwise go nowhere thread.
also, to emma, nobody ever actully "gives" ideas here, nor does anyone ever seem to "give a shit" i tried this sort of thing before and even stooped as low as to ask for help directly for people who read my fan fics, all to no avail. so i will be the the better man, and give you some good ideas:
just write the old leela and fry fall in love crap, but try to put a subtle twist on it, like character death, new character introduction, fry falling in love with someone else, fry giving up on leela in a different way, leela butning all of fry's hopes and dreams, other dimensions allow unlimited possibilites. i have used this to the fullest extent i dared. hell, if you dream it, you can do it. just take an idea, throw it into the wash with a bunch of other smaller ones that could never become a whole tale, let them run togather, and
BAM!!!!
you have a fan fic. it's worked for me, maybe it will work for you.

Hey, Anarchist, that pic makes a nice point, but you might want to be careful with stuff like that. You never know who might read it and think you're talking bad about disabled people, but I digress. Getak, careful with claiming your stuff is better than anyone else's. Someone might come along and knock you off your throne. I love the way you put things out of context. You make it sound as if we're beating you with sticks About fan fic ideas: I always try to encourage people to use their imagination and come up with their own ideas. I consider it more fun that way. Take the time to observe the characters and get to know them well. IMO, an author that asks for ideas doesn't have any to begin with. BTW getak, none of the things in the post were meant to restart an old war. I'm not interested in fighting. I just like to clear stuff up. edit: All new stuff that no one has even dreamed of? I'll bet they have. It's just a matter of who gets the idea written and published before. If you've done that, then congrats.

Although I do agree that a writer (of any kind) should always strive for originality. Asking for ideas on a messege board that is frequented by many prospective readers isn't completely pointless, though - sometimes it's useful for a writer to see what people would like to read about. For example, Venus presented an idea she'd like to see a fanfic about, and I (and perhaps other writer(s)) liked the idea enough to write it. Is this wrong? (No, really, is it? I'm not 100% sure of the ethical aspect of this type of thing.) Also, about that pic - yes, I know. I've seen numerous flamewars about that pic, and I've heard all the arguements. I just thought it fit here too perfectly, and in my experience I found that things like that can be rather tasteful if used correctly and sparingly. I'm sure that it was clear enough that I wasn't referring to people with disabilities, and I certainly didn't intend to hurt anyone's feelings. (I do love disclaimers...)

When you're working on fanfics for a show set in the year 3000 with so many different stereotypes, characters and planets, it's not really that hard to think of an idea, the possibilities are almost endless.

"The Adventures of Zapp and Kif?" Could be hillarious, now that I think of it.
