Joke: Pathetic.
Art: I really don't like cut out figures pasted onto a background, it looks, well, crap to be honest! That would take all of 5 minutes to do!

Can i ask why you call cutting out Nintendo and Futurama characters and pasting them onto a background art?

Hey hey hey.
Lets not all gang up on her... to each they're own.
Lets not have another incident on our hands that involves angrily typed posts or "Why do you hate me polls".

Andrea, if you have ONE page for all your art, you would probably avoid this though. That way if people don't like what you do, they won't check it out, and its only one thread. However theres no need to be really mean.

Personally I do not see how this is any different than scanart. After all what is scanart? Traced drawings. True there are some who have raised the bar a little on it with some really nice coloring techniques and effects but at the base of it is tracing.

very true, it's doesn't really take any talent at all to make a scan from an episode, not that I'm against it, I just don't see why some people think so highly of it

I agree there's nothing special about scan-art, but it's still got a nack to it. It looks far better then cutting and pasting and usually doesn't involve random Nintendo characters.

While I agree that there is some skill required to do scanart in forms of technique and so forth it still comes down to tracing over another persons drawing.
What was posted here by Andrea was something that seems just as simple on the surface. However, if we wanted to get technical about it I would consider what she has posted here as more creative. Sure she did not draw or create any of the characters in her image but then again neither do scan artists. What she has done, however is started with an idea of a finished product and conveyed that idea through cut, pasting, composition as well as what looks like an original drawing of the blackboard. On top of that the thought went into what the blackboard actually says and the joke associated with it.
I can appreciate both forms for what they are as well as appreciate the time and energy that went into making either scanart or this paste up. Am I a fan of either one? Not really, although I have seen good work done in both mediums that I have liked. I agree with both Chump and The Voices on this in that what it really boils down to is personal preference. Both scanart and clip art is basically the same thing. Taking what another has done and presenting it in a different light.

it could be possible. i knew this girl who obsessively drew anime (i despise anime) someone dared her to draw something other then anime and she got all exasperated and demanded to know why no one thought she could do other stuff. So i pointed out the obvious, that no one had ever SEEN her do anything but anime so she dug through her portfolio which had to have over 100 drawings in it and after a bit she was finally able to produce 2 drawings (told you she was obsessive) and they were so gorgeous. They were almost lifelike, turned out she could do realism perfectly, she was just waisting her talent on anime. (yes i said waisting, not (only) cause i think anime sucks but because every guyfriend i have can draw anime even if they can draw nothing else)She was in the running to be voted most artistic senior year but she lost out to another girl that probably only had half the talent but did actually draw in different styles. She was so mad about that, but hey it was her own fault.

Thats what I've been saying! You're all nuts!
Its more work to do scanart though... you actually have to retrace every line, remove stuff you find distracting, recolour the whole thing.

To be fair, when you do scan art, you at least have to redo the whole thing, the picture is just a guide. THe other way is just copy and pasting.
