Nice scan CFG, I likie the smooth shading. Can drawing be learned or am i doomed to stick-figures forever? Short answer - Yes, drawing can be learned. The whole 'natural artistic ability' thing is overrated, like any skill (e.g. playing the piano) artistic talent can be learned, it just takes a lot of practice, and a little bit of reading. I think a lot of people just get disheartened by early attempts being totally dire, which is the problem with art. If you fuck up a note while playing the piano you can just forget about it and move on. With a bad pencil drawing, you have something in your face reminding you how bad you are. Never mind stick figures, try something ambitious that you don't think you could pull off. It helps to be totally naive when starting out. Hope that helps / made sense .

Pretty good first scan there Crazyfangirl, as Zmithy said, nice Shading. I find one of the best things to do when "sketching" is to take ones time in doing it, constantly go back and look at your reference picture and ajust yours acordingly. When I first stated out it would take me along time to do a half way decent picture, but everytime I did one, I'd learn something new and be able to cut down on the time it would take me to do another. That might not help, but thats the way I started.

And I thought my love of Futurama and my love of graphic disemboweling would never be combined in the fanart world. It doesn't help that I have a budding fascination with amputees. Maybe I shall post more of my Fry In Robot Hell drawings. there are.. too many. Until then.
