The hair doesn't need changing, it's perfect for the type of light she's standing in, just like the slight orange tint/glow on the skin and jacket.

Awesome pictures from both Wu and Zed  :D.
Ditching the black lines and going for a painted style isn't easy... but it does look absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks for the comments everyone! And yes, Zmithy you've nailed it on the head, thank you!  :D  :p

Actually - well I was one of the first to say "painting without black lines is an absolute bastard" - but I've been using the pen tool in Photoshop and actually there are some easy(ier) ways to do it. I'll probably keep the skin outlined to fit the style but hair, clothes and accessories I may remove all the lines in the future  :)

Zed: Hurray, you are back in business. Now if only EL returned.

Wu: You are the Futurama cheesecake Master Apprentice!

I remember TheVoices did an excellent period of cheesecake, not as good as his latter art but it grabbed our attention...

...ewww. Was the pit hair really necessary? We've seen Leela's underarms before. She shaves. Most american women do. Pit hair is really unattractive.

Ummm... yeah. So, this is the first futurama related thing I've ever drawn. And the first thing I've drawn at all in about a year. Just a test drawing, really, you know, making sure I can still handle a pencil. All in all, pretty crappy, but I'll get beter eventually, I hope.

It's dark, because I just now realized that I don't have a scanner, so I hade to take a picture. Damn, it's compressed as a bitch, too. Fucking image shack, the version om my hard drive doesn't look that bad!

Cheers for comments  :)

I was way more worried about the front of Leela's tanktop - nipple-shading never looks right, was a mistake to try and include.

Talking of mistakes... No, I still kind of like the underarm hair there (though it looks like I put the armpit too high...), it looks... I dunno, european... :P Still, next few pics are armpit free, so question won't arise while I think about it.

Thanks again for posting  :)

Never go wrong with nipples. Also, pretty sure most European women shave their armpit hair if they are under 40...I've only left the UK once so I'm not an expert...

Mibbe I'm still subcconsciously affected by the underarms of a group of Spanish women I was in a lift with aged 12. Much money could be wasted in therapy talking about it  :p

I have to comment on the motion lines that the ships have in the background.  They're subtle, but perfectly done.  The red ship looks especially nice and 3-D.

This is my first attempt at a scan:

Does anyone know how to make it bigger? Im useless with computers!!

Cheers, Square  :) Taking time with backgrounds is a newish thing for me, so nice to have it noticed!

@Jonny Wobbs... intruiging name...  :p Anyway, it'll depend which program you're using, but if you want a big finished scanart piece, you need to:

1) take your chosen framegrab.
2) resize it, large - I work on my pics at about 2500 x 3000 pixels or similar.
3) do your scanarting wizardry on the grab.
4) when finished, shrink it down to whatever display size you want - 800x600 is standard, but whatever you reckon's best.

Unfortunately... you can't really (to my knowledge) make a finished scan, like the one above, bigger; sorry. It's a shame, because that's an excellent first go! texture _and_ shading in L's hair  :p Actually, I quite like how parts of the pic (hair, scrunchie, lips, dress) are shaded, draws the eye to them...

And now the latest news is that the Mayor's trying to crack down on covert porn productions in New York's alley ways.
And I like Leela's armpit hair.
It doesn't work on every woman, and it really depends on the hair itself.
I could tell you stories...............

Cheers for comments, guys  :) I do think pit hair must return in some future pic... soon as I figure one out...

@Nurdbot: heh, sorry... that was an old pic I was relining... still, you made me _choose_ to do that one next! I don't have my own site, no, but if you like I could email you the non-peel version...? I'm at thatenglishguy@hotmail.com, gies a shout if you're interested  :)

@Me_In_Honey (hmm, another great name!): no european woman has ever shaved my armpits, no  :p

Seriously, I've never lived in Europe, just visited; parts of France, Spain, Austria, Czech Repub., Germany... I've seen a lot more women there who don't shave than I ever did at home; I don't say it's a rule, just it's more common  :)

Markus.

Just thought I'd share this - not really Futurama fan-art (though it is fan-art of something else) but I really like it and hope to add some of the things I learned while doing it, into my Futurama stuff  :)

Very big though
