I'd remake Casablanca with Myra Binglebat and Peter Beardsley.

Personally, I don't think I'd like to see a remake ... I wouldn't mind much though. I think Eddie Kaye Thomas (Finch from American Pie) could possibly be Brian Johnson though  :D As for the others ... I do not know.

A little note, there were rumors that Jen and Ben were planning to play the main roles in a possible remake of Casablanca, though that rumor was around before Gigli.

Barbarella with Jeri Ryan, or maybe Sharon Stone if she did it a few years ago.

That is really good David A.  Maybe you can also come up with who would be casted to be in a remake of The Matrix.

Can anybody come up with their idea for a remake of the Godfather?  Or The Wizard of Oz?

Rumor has it that Drew Berrymore is in talks to play Dorthy in a remake to Wizard of OZ.

Here's some more I came up with:

The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
(A Don Knotts movie my sister liked)

It's been a while since I've seen this movie, so be kind I don't really remember any more characters!

Luther Heggs: Jim Carrey
Ollie: Matthew Broderick
Alma: Elisabeth Shue
Mr. Simmons: Gene Hackman
Kelsey: Kelsey Grammar
Mrs. Maxwell:  Glenn Close
Mrs. Maxwell's Cosmic Vibration Group:
Natalie Portman
Kate Hudson
Keira Knightly
Mena Suvari
Tom Arnold can play Luther's boss

Silver Streak:

Jim Carrey, Chris Tucker, Cameron Diaz, Cedric the Enterainer, and Gary Oldman can play the main characters.  And instead of going from Los Angeles to Chicago like the movie, the remake can have the train go from New York to Seattle.

Anybody have a vision about remaking Raiders of the lost Arc?  I was thinking of having Josh Hartnett as Indiana Jones.  For that matter, I'd replace Johnny Depp with Hartnett as Han Solo in Nixorbo's star wars remake.

What about Ocean's 11? That was a good movie. I don't know whom would replace anyone but I was just thinking about it.

A remake of a remake of a remake of a book?

Oh wait, that's Freaky Friday...nevermind  :D

The Breakfast Club

Andrew Clark: Chris Clien
Claire Standish: Linsey Lohan
John Bender: no one can top Judd Nelson...just give up
Brian Johnson: Haley Joel Osment
Allison Reynolds: Rachel Leigh Cook (David A said this, and I agree)
Principal Richard Vernon: Allen Cummings, who can do no wrong
Carl the Janitor: Robin Williams

I just can't picture sweet and cute Alan Cummings as a jerkass principal who threatens children because he's insecure and ill tempered. : sigh : I guess that's why it's called acting, heh..
Might I sugest Alfred Molina? Not only because I'm in love with him, but also because he has a history of playing real stickinthemuds.

If only he wasn't such a fag and I wasn't such a dyke....

And he can play anything...dammit...he was in Josie and the Pussycats and Spykids as a badguy!
And then he was in Cabaret....mmmmmmmmmmm

Maybe this came be the movie remake thread in general.

I've noticed a large amount of remakes, and they happened to remake films from the 70's.

Amittyville Horror
Halloween
Dawn of the Dead
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Hills Have Eyes
Assault On Pretinct 13
The Omen
Black Christmas
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The Omega Man (remade as I Am Legend, though this movie was a remake of The Last Man On Earth)

just to name a few

Imagine if they remade Star Wars, Jaws, Animal House or Godfather.

I also predict that in the next few years, they'll probably remake 80's films.

Back To the Future, Breakfast Club, Police Academy, Child's Play and other slasher films since Halloween and Chainsaw were made, why not relaunch other horror francises.

Some remakes have been good though.  Peter Jackson's King Kong not only honored the original 1933 film, it brought something new.  Remakes need to first honor the original and bring something new to the table.

Sarcasm overload...must...purge...bra in...

I knew the Police Academy was bad, but I don't think it qualifies as a slasher film.

Remake Breakfast Club?  Why not?  I'm sure you could pry Molly Ringwald, Judd Hirsch, and Emilio Estevez away from their staggeringly busy schedules.

Everyone knows repeated exposure to a flux capacitor causes Parkinson's.  What kind of insensitive jerk are you?

Speaking of remakes, I liked the original thread better, and it totally sucked.

What about a bigger budget more A grade Serenity/Firefly?

Mal - Clive Owen
Wash - Zach Braff
Zoe - Halle Berry
Jayne - The Rock
Kaylee - Hillary Duff
Inara - Scarlet Johansen
River - Milla Jovovich
Book - Morgan Freeman
Simon - Adam Brody

Some i'm not too sure about, Hillary Duff is the only youngish actress i can think off that hasn't become a drug addicted crack whore. Zach Braff doesn't have red hair, and Milla is a little too old but at least it's certain we see some boobs. It's just not a Jovovich movie without some nudity.

The African Queen.
With Bruce Willis hamming up Humphrey Bogart's role and Cate Blanchett as Catherine Hepburn (a role in which she excelled in The Aviator).

The Good, the Bad, & The Ugly
Hugh Jackman as The Man With No Name,
George Clooney as Angel Eyes,
and Jack Black as Tuco.

Mary Poppins
With the Supernanny.
No, that's a joke.

Unless I completely overlooked it on IMDb, Hirsch wasn't in Breakfast Club. He was an actor on Taxi. You're looking for Judd Nelson.
