I don't know, I thought they all seemed pretty... weak. Perhaps because the series was so character-driven, it wore out. Kira's getting angry and then whining to Sisko got boring after a while. Garak and Quark were cool, yes. O'Brien was fat and Irish and therefore cool by default. But Dax had NO personality whatsoever and her only role was to stand around in a green shirt and say the lines that didn't suit any other character. Oh, and Bashir needed his eyeballs ripping out.

Sure, until they introduced the Dominion and gave them the Defiant.  Hence the seperation in both mine and Kryte's list.

TOS doesn't fit into my list, because I've never really watched it.  Too far before my time.

Incidently, this discussion probably should be moved out of this thread . . .

no, but remember the classic-series...the styling (all computers and medical-stuff etc). the styling of the new show must compare to that, or? even the look of the starships must be more like the original enterprise (remember ncc1701 and remember the different new look of ncc1701a),

Nix: thanks for starting a seperate Star Trek thread.

Everyone: what do you think of the new Spider-man trailer? I thought the web-swinging effects looked cool, but other than that, it was pretty cheesy.

Also, I am tired of seeing product placement for Nokia cell phones. It seems like Nokia is in every damn movie/tv show. Stupid Spider-man.

Seriously, they better not botch Spider-man. I hope they will play the classic theme, now that will rock.

I saw the trailer during FF... Man, I gotta see this movie now. The truly amzing thing is that Tobey's wearing a spandex costume... and it doesn't look like crap on the screen.

Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane... Yow. I still remember her as the prepubescent vampire in "Interview with the Vampire"... Hard to think of her as a grown woman.

I think I've figured out he key to having a positive movie experience each and every time.  Go in with very small or no expectations, that way you won't be disappointed and maybe even pleasantly surprised.

For instance:
Went into Star Wars: Episode 1 expecing something the same caliber as the original trilogy.  I was disappointed.

Went into X-Men expecting Hugh Jackman/Wolverine to suck.  Was pleasantly surprised when he did a bang-up job.

Went into the original Planet of the Apes expecting it to be really funny, especially after seeing "Deep Space Homer."  I was not disappointed.

yeah, I can relate to that.
went into 'evolution' expecting to fall asleep- didn't fall asleep, was pleasantly surprised when it was at d minus level.

went into 'mummy 2' expecting to be mildly amused- no such luck.

went into ' moulin rouge' expecting it to be a stupid load of crap- absolutley loved it.

i just saw the movie "slapshot" yesterday. it was on tv, i haven't seen this movie for years. paul newman starrs as a ice-hockey-coach of a total loooooser-team, they suck big-time until they develope a more violent way to play ice-hockey.  :D
this movie inspired bands like slapshot (of course) and the hanson brothers (a projekt of the nomeansno-brothers and members of doa named after the three brutal hanson brothers).
all hail to that ice-hockey movie......where men are still men and hitting each other in the face...  ;)

I was very Disappointed with Episode 1!
I guess i expected to much from it.

They had way to much action and not enough of a good story.. they should have kept it to the basics..

Is there a single pie in American Pie 2?  I always thought it was quite reatrded that they would name the movie American Pie simply because there was a single scene involving a pie.  So because of it the sequel is stuck with a name that doesn't fit it at all.  It's the most bothersome  movie title since I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

I still know what you did last summer has everything an idiotic movie should have- an idiotic title. It's the perfect warning NOT to go see the movie... I'm not complaining.

Mofo: American pie is a metaphor, it's not like the writers of the movie came up with the name... the phrase American Pie has always been around.

"American Pie" is the name of a great song by Don McClean(sp?).  Madonna did a horrible redo of it just recently.  Weird Al parodied it in "The Saga Begins."

And if you put the word "American" in the title, they seem to think that hordes of people will go to see it regardless of what it's like.

Yeah, what's the deal with AP2 not having any pie? If it were up to me, I'd have a girl make love to a McDonalds apple pie. Also, what's the deal with having Shannon Elizabeth in it? I may have already pointed this out to you people, but we've already seen her naked in the first movie. Nobody is going to pay to see the same woman naked in a sequel--that's why Species 2 failed so miserably. Man, I should be the one writing that movie. Hell, I should write every movie.

I'm aware of the phrase, but the phrase didn't have anything to do with the movie.  If I'm correct, the phrase has to do with common American life, and I don't know about you, but I've yet to meet anybody who's fornicated with a pie (or a flute for that matter), which only leaves the joke about the pie humpin'.

Can someone PUHLEEZE explain the ending of the new Planet of the Apes to me? Thanks...Also, about FF. It bombed. But Tomb Raider went to number 1. Oh well. The reason it bombed was because of powerhouse "Legally Blonde." Which is pretty sad. Plus, Fast and the Furious has far too much testostorone(sp) involved for me...

I think (someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that it's an ironic title, because the phrase that comes to my mind is "as American as apple pie." That the image is so wholesome (apple pie cooling on a windowsill) makes it ironic, given the subject matter of the film. I mean, the guy is pretty much raping an American symbol of goodness.
