Yes it is true, the Messiah has returned and promises to bring us back to that utopian world of eternia. Rejoice for the Masters are back, He-man and cringer.. all of them..

I don't know about you , but when I was a tiny kid my small unformed mind was first introduced to true adventure by this muscle bound hero. A half hour advert it may have been but also a richly woven tapestry of mytho-sci-fi beauty it remains. It returns glossy and re-animated with all the diverse and strange characters from the original.

I'm not going to critique because even the thought of the show returns me to times so happy I could almost cry.. if any of you feel as I do then rejoice for rapture is at hand....

Also, what do you think of the show, old and new...

You talk funny...  :laff:  :p

I can't even remember the old series but I do remember having a He-Man action figue and that animal thing he rode around on.
So he must have kicked ass!!

Also, we named one of our lecturers "Skeletor", cos she's skinny.

Don't have it and I'm not into anime (which is what CNX mostly is, right?)

Maybe if I wrote to Gay Byrne...

The new series looks really gay though.

Whats gay about a half naked muscle bound man waving a massive sword?

And CNX has loads of decent toons, like Batman Beyond...

The new he man is acctually pretty cool. The only thing I dont like is too much attention on Man at arms. He man is nothing but muscle in this new series, a guy who comes in at the end and stops the trouble created by everyone else. I wish he had a bigger part.

and skeletors voice is too cool.

i remember the original we had everything man at arma he man webster skeletor orco castle grayskull snake mountain cringer/battlecat that flying machine (name escapes me at the moment) plus dozens and dozens more. in the new series does he still start out as adam and then do all that speil about 'By the power of castle grayskull' etc etc and turn into he man. We also went to the movies to see it with dolph lungren we were disappointed

the move was brilliantly bad...and skeletor looked homosexual.

i havent seen the new one but the old cartoon was great. This guy was walking past a castle and, for no reason, decided to lift up his sword and say 'by the power of greyskull, i have the power'.....suddenly he is superhuman....conveniant....i love things like that, soooo random yet it needs no explaination.

anyhow....i cant wait till they remake THUNDERCATS....snarf snarf.....i dont know if they are but if anyone knows then tell me.

I saw the movie at college  :hmpf: a group of us took it in turns to select the video we rented, one of the girls fancied the leading actor so chose that  ;)

I can't remember anything about it though  :p

Prince Adam of eternia is the hereditary inheritor of the Greyskull power. He was given it by the sorceress who in turn was endowed with it by the elders of Old Eternia which fell in the great war that created the Dark hemisphere in which Skeletor lives. Nothing random about that...

Oh boy, that He-Man movie was totally awful.  Not only that, it destoryed the careers of everyone who acted in it.  I mean, who's heard anything about Courtney Cox recently?

Wow, you know your He-Man.

Anyway, the movie was god awful, and not like raindeer games awful either, like The Krull awful.

Whereas in the original series we were all mesmerised by HeMan's complex, multi-faceted personality.  :p

of course he was multi faceted remember his cross over relationship with she-ra and of course the fact he had to hide his true identity from his enemies and he didnt have the advantage of glasses and a stupid hairstyle like clarke kent/superman (sorry i didnt use a spoiler for that some of you may not have known that haha)he had to rely on the fact he wore clothes as adam and very little clothes as he-man now that is a very complex and difficult task to pull off and requires a lot of skill in the writers part to make us believe it.

My parents wouldn't let me watch He-Man, because before he could solve any of his problems he had to transform into that muscle-bound lug, and my parents didn't want me thinking you had to be strong like that to get things accomplished.  At least, that's the story that was told to me, my parents may be hiding some deeper motive...

the new show is pretty complex for a kids show. he-man has to constantly reassure everyone of their own self worth, there is an episode where ram-man is afraid of the darkness because he was tormented with it as a child but he overcomes it in order to save anothers life. Also mech-a-neck feels insecure because his ability is completely useless ... which it is, but he-man proves to him that his self-worth lies elsewhere than his abilities. Its after school special stuff but its not completely hollow and at least it tries.
