Put a bunch of adults in a room for a few hours and no matter what topic you give them - existentialism, world politics, etc, one will eventually say, 'Wasn't the Magic Roundabout great!'

So, this is where you can discuss all those shows you loved as a kid, or the ones you really hated (or if you still are a kid - the ones you love/hate now!).

I mean, what was with those names in Captain Pugwash, eh...?

And was zebedee really on speed?

Personally, my all-time favourite kids tv show is Dangermouse, which is still fab when I watch it as an adult... which I do, because I have the video!  :p

(Sorry if this has been done before - I did a search from the last few months' topics and couldn't find anything similar...)

Go forth and discuss!

i like most cartoons. especially cartoons that are created for little kids.

and something you can only get in germany: bernd das brot.

that's what he looks like. he's part of a show for children, and he's always depressed and tries to get out of that show. it's so funny.

Spiff, he reminds me somehow of Trapdoor, this claymation show we used to have over here.
God, did anyone watch Trapdoor? It was fab!

Oh yeah, Trapdoor was cool!  And Thomas used to be wicked, shame he's ruined now - just not the same without Ringo.

Obviously it goes without saying that we grew up watching Rainbow, and the aforementioned Magic Roundabout.

I used to love Jamie & The Magic Torch, Chorlton & the Wheelies, and Willo The Wisp.  All fantastic!

I like the old school nickelodeon. You, the one with those cool shows, the Clarissa explains it all, Aaaaaah! Real Monsters!, Rocko's modern life, The adventures of Pete & Pete, Salute your shorts, et cetera...
It also had these cool summer specials and cartoon commercials. And that game show with the talking mayan head thing. The nickelodeon before it went down the advertising craphole...

I used to love Clarissa..., until I realised it was unhealthy.  :p

UK Kids TV, would not go by without an honorable mention for "Mr Ben".

Danger Mouse
Count Dukula
Gerry Anderson stuff
Mr Ben
Rocko's Modern Life
Various WB stuff
Various H&B stuff - mostly the pre-60's ones, then that's really MGM cartoons (Tom & Jerry in other words)
Thomas the Tank Engine, plus a Tugboat version of something similar, can anyone remember that?
Plus something that was set in a fast-food resturant, can't remember that name either  :hmpf:

Things like that  :)
Today's kid's stuff, on the most part, despite this coming from a "adult" prospective, is utter shite...

The original Disney Afternoon line up was cool.  Ducktales was cooler, though.  Tiny Toons and Animaniacs, and by extension, Pinky ands the Brain, still own you.  Sesame Street and Mr. Roger's Neighborhood I remember watching and enjoying.  I remember actually watching Thndercats before they became a pop nostalgia icon.  The original X-Men cartoon - you know, the one that actually followed the comics?  Watched X-Men more than I watched Spider-man.

Is that where the guy refuses to sacrifice his son to Dzeus, and his spaceship crew is frozen or something?

Uh... Yes, I do love it. Still.  ;)

I've always wondered on "Wacky Races", if those other cars were actually real representives of other HB cartoons. Aside from the Dastardly/Mutly duo, I never heard of any of them.

Oh, and the others all sucked, too.

Moving on...the Smurfs aren't that old, Kryten. Weren't they an early/mid-1980s ordeal?

That would be Road Rovers. I remember hating it, but thinking the season/series finale was kind of clever for a kid's show.

And no, the Smurfs aren't that old. Why I still remember going to a local Hanna-Barbera themed amusement park, and riding the Smurf Mountain ride. One of the guys in Smurf costumes felt me up when I was seven. Sigh...I guess you never forget first loves.
