I went to the shops today and I saw this PC game of the Rugrats but they don't look like babies, they look like 10 year old kids.

Dose that means theres a growning up version of the Rugrats cartoon?

I heard a rumour that they're doing a bunch of new episodes where the babies are older.

Short answer: Not yet, but soon.

Long answer, Klasky/Csupo is producing a "Rugrats" spinoff that features the kids as preteens, based on last year's "All Growed Up" episode. It's expected to begin airing in late '03.

...starring Patrick Stewart as Tommy Pickles.  (He's even got the hair for it!)

I watched Rugrats when i was 12 years old the a week later I found out the show was a bunch of dumb potty jokes.

That was the shortest time I ever liked a show ever.

Yeah, this is a bad idea. It's just another way for Klasky/Csupo to milk some more money out of a, what?, 10 yr. old franchise. I didn't know people still watched Rugrats anymore.

i don't know what's scarier, that this is happening, or that Kryten knows all about it

I can just imagine Kryten sitting at a big oak desk (ala Mr. Burns's office), a wall full of cartoon-related books, and a little stock ticker churning out Rugrats-related news every 15 min.

Kryten: "Oh my god, they're doing a spin-off of Rugrats when they're all grown up! I have to warn the others!"

PS: How do you spin off a show with the same characters from the original show?

Its not right. Like other shows, i.e Daria and Red Dwarf, Rugrats should quit while they are ahead.

We've seen Bart old twice, and I think the show could kinda suck if Bart, Lisa, and Maggie grew up. After all, so much of the humor from the Simpsons is that these kids act more sophisticated than the adults of the town.

Addendum scary thought: Was anyone else frightened by the fact that some of the pre-teen female Rugrats have breasts? Yuk.  :puke:

Dude! They're there! It's not like they're not noticable...I was looking at the one kids face, seeing how he aged, then, bam! a set of prepubescent breasts right next to his head! What the hell?!

Won't somebody please think of the children!?!

Tommy has purple hair when he's grown up. I think I saw one of those episodes. I started watching halfway through, which confused me.

Eh, it makes sense... we've had so many "Insert Popular Series Name Here Babies" cartoons, why not the other way around?

yeah, but making the Rugrats grow up, they destroy the whole point of the show. We might as well just watch ourselves. What's up with the aging system? They don't age at all for years, then they age hugely in a manner of days. strange....
