Is anyone else here a fan of the Granada Sherlock Holmes series from the 1980s-1990s, starring Jeremy Brett?
Brett is definitive in the role. He was exacting in his attention to detail in portraying the character as it was written, similar to David Suchet's Poirot.
The cinematography is beautiful, and the set dressing, costumes, and such have the same exactness as the character - so many details are right, it's easy to get lost in it and imagine you're in Victorian Britain.
I can't recommend it highly enough.
