I tried searching for something like this, but there wasn't.  I just learned that Eartha Kitt passed away on Christmas.    It's sad news. She was 81.  She was an awesome actress, singer and dancer.  She's perhaps known for playing Catwoman on the third season of the 1960's Batman TV show.  It's weird I happened to have been watching Disney's The Emperor's New School, where she plays the character Yzma, when I heard the tragic news.

2008 has had a few surprising losing, Heath Ledger, Charlton Heston, George Carlin, Bernie Mac and others.

I think instead of making separate threads of "RIP LEDGER" or "RIP BERNIE", I thought I'd make a thread to use whenever a celebrity passes.  Gives people a chance to post up to date news and talk about how a previous passing of a celebrity affected them.

I remember feeling really shocked when Tupac and Biggie were shot.  I look forward to the new Biggie biopic coming in Jan.

I was watching The Jerk the other day and I saw Richard Pryor in it and was totally like :(.

Oh, and I was also saddened by the loss of a Steve Martin that was funny.

RIP, Maddie Blaustein.  :(

She was a voice actress, a singer, a comedian, and I'm sure she had many other talents in her career as well.  It's very sad though, because she was only 48.

However, even though Maddie's death was very unexpected, I'm sure she would want her fans to be happy for all the happiness she brought to us throughout her career.

RIP Pat Hingle

He was probably known to many as Commissioner Gordon from the Batman movies 89-97.   He passed away 4 days ago due to leukemia.  In Hingle's appearance as Commissioner Gordon (Batman & Robin), he worked with Uma Thurman (who portrayed Poison Ivy), whose first husband, Gary Oldman, succeeded him in the role in Batman Begins (2005). Hingle also worked with Christian Bale in Shaft, who would go on to portray Batman/Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins and Dark knight.  Weird Coincidences.

Interesting coincidence. I was watching the MST3K episode with the terrible German version of Hamlet and it turns out that the dub for Claudius was done by Ricardo Montalbán.

Today marks one year ago, Heath Ledger passed away.  It was awesome that he won the Golden Globe.  He's a shoe in for the Oscar.

LEDGER FOR OSCAR

I was shocked to just learn that 2008 marked the passing of two other celebrities.   Roy Scheider and Stan Winston.  Scheider was awesome in JAWS and The French Connection.  Stan Winston did visual effects for Aliens, Predator, Terminator, Jurassic Park and others.  That's a huge chuck of my childhood of watching cool movies.

Quote
Reg Evans, the Station Master in Mad Max, amongst other roles, has been reported dead in the Kinglake bushfires. He was 80. Further information can be found online at The Age Newspaper, and likely in other news services. Communities affected by the bushfires can be supported via the Victorian Bushfire Fund, see the Red Cross Page for further details.

Aww, bummer. I just watched the 1st Mad Max on the same freaking date a few days ago. He was the Station Master of the outback town terrorised by the Biker Gang, showed them where the dead dudes coffin was.

I haven't heard much about the circumstances of the injury, but I'm going to take a guess and say a helmet wasn't being worn.  I always wear one when I ski because it's so easy to do big damage to your dome in a ski wreck.  RIP, Natasha.

Juliet, it's an attempt to point out that in this message...

Jade Goody die this morning!  I thougt she was doing to survey longer.

you wrote "survey" instead of "survive". Whether it was a callous, mean-spirited, or even malicious attempt remains to be seen.

Who was Jade Goody, anyway?

BTW you also wrote "die" instead of "died", "thougt" instead of "thought" and "doing" instead of "going" but presumably they are harder mistakes to find a suitable picture for.
