Of all the cop shows I have been into that only lasted 5-10 episodes: Robbery Homicide Division, L.A. Dragnet, and Hawaii.  The one that I have remained faithful to it The Shield.  Michael Chiklis is really good in it, and all the characters and situations are very realistic.  Plus, Michael Chiklis's character has two disabled kids in the show.

I heard Glenn Close will join the cast as well.  The team used to be called "Strike Force" now they're called "Strike Team".  Unlike the other cop shows I like, at least this one is coming back, in March!  Anyone else watch The Shield?  It's one of my favorites next to Futurama and South Park.
One things for sure, The Shield makes NYPD Blue look like a Disney cartoon!

Why do you feel a need to make a thread for every show that has none on this board?

Did you think there might be a reason no one has made a thread for this show yet?

Well it's not because the show isn't good, it's a damn fine one.  It probably doesn't deserve it's own thread, but I don't see a moderator title under your name, so why don't you leave that to them?

On topic and while this is still open, I'm looking forward to the new season.  Do you know why they delayed it until March?  It's always started in January the previous seasons.  I don't know what I think about Glen Close coming to the series.  I'm not sure I like her that much.  The acting group they have already is a good one, I hope she doesn't foul it up.

I could do without Glen Close in anything, much less this gem of a show.  CCH Pounder fulfills the bitch quota sufficiently.

I'm just hoping they make Dutch into a serial killer.  There are so few series about them these days.

Yeah, I'm worried that adding Glen Close will foul up the chemistry already present.  We'll see what happens though.

Good old Dutch.  I like his character because he is a source of a lot of unintentional humor, especially when it comes to his dealings with women.  Him strangling that cat was one of the most F'ed up things I've seen in a TV show.

I'm really liking this new season of The Shield.  Looks like Vic's conscience will be catching up with him soon since he killed someone in the first episode because Forrest Whittaker who is the new villain who has it in for the Strike Team found out about it, and is even using Lem to get him to confess.  He even got Vic's ex-wife Corrine suckered into his tangled web.

Also, Danni is pregnant and nobody knows who the father is, a new girl cop who tries to follow protocol but fails, and Claudette reveals to Dutch that she has lupus.  It's been a great start to the season so far!  It keeps getting better and better.  I liked how Forrestt Whitaker thought he arrested them and it turned out to be a hoax!  Classic!  I even have all the seasons of The Shield on DVD!

I just started watching this this season as a replacement for Nip/Tuck, but I gotta say, this is one awesome show. I may just buy the DVDs and have me a marathon. When did you say Vic killed that guy? Season and episode.

I believe that happened in the first season, first episode.

The Shield is consistently good, it's worth watching.  This week's episode was excellent. Forest Whitaker's character being outfoxed by Vic & company was priceless.

Hell yeah, he's usually so calm, but he trashed that room like a pro.

Sorry about the double post, but I just wanted to let everyone know that Spike TV is having a 4 day Shield marathon this Wednesday starting at 9pm. They are of course going to start with the Pilot, so this is a good chance to catch the beginning of the series if you've never seen it.

BUMP-A-RAMA

I love this show. It fuckin rocks. We finished a season a while ago here in Oz, it was the one when Glenn Close came in as the captain, think it was season 5. Man she is a great actress. I don't want to ruin it for anyone if they haven't seen it, but a damn fine ending. I was pissed about one thing though. So where you guys up to in America? We should be getting next season soon-ish.

By the way, don't ruin any upcoming episodes for me.

All seasons are great. I fell in love with it after the first episode.

When it first came on it was in the influx of new 'cop shows' and I hated it for that. So I had written it off completely. Then I watched it and.. wow! Great writing, acting, storylines.. That scene at the end where Vic shoots his friend.. blew me away (pun intended).

Damn Australian TV! Bring it back! So what season number is the Forest Whitaker one?

And do you guys get it in a good timeslot? We get it round here at 11.50pm on a Saturday night... ugh.. I hate Australian TV. Wouldn't know a quality show if it bit them in the ass.

We (I) get it at 10pm on a tuesday night. So yeah. It's not a bad day/time.

I first watched the show this past season, then Spike started showing the first season. Now I'm renting the DVDs.

The season with Whitaker was season 5.

P.S. The guy Vic shot in the Pilot wasn't really his friend.

Cheers. Yeah he wasn't really. My memory is sketchy on it. I do remember that I loved it, and did not see it coming.

Edit: Goddamit! I hate myself! I was reading up on The Shield on Wikipedia and it gave away a major plot in season 5! I read it by accident. Shit, that sucks.
