The show is coming to the UK this week and I heard that this programme has been big in America. Today I watch on how they made the show and it interests me. It looks like the new Sex And The City to me.

I was wondering do any of you America people see the show and what are your thoughts about it? Is it better or worst then Sex And The City?

Why didn't you just create a thread called "Bring back Sex and the City!"?

I'll watch this when Jesus freezes over.

It's more like Sex in the Suburbs.

My folks like it, but I think it sucks monkey balls.

But don't take my word for it.

No. If it's on television, there's a 98% chance it sucks.

I remember seeing a preview for it on the TV Guide channel where this miserable housewife was having sex with the 17-year old landscaper. That pisses me off because that's like my dream come true and they're rubbing it in my face on TV by saying to me "It'll never happen". Damnit.

I love the show. In fact, I think it's better than Sex and the City. It's really funny and I think the characters are great. Terri Hatcher's character is my favorite.

I watch it, and I enjoy it to an extent.  I started watching it because Felicity Huffman is in it, and she was great in Sports Night.  (Brenda Strong, who plays Mary Alice, was on Sports Night too.)  SO far the show's been OK, but I'm not sure I'll watch past the end of the first season - shows llike this can degrade into tired soap operas pretty easy, and if that happens I'm gone.

Anyway, although I didn't see the show itself, I read the Newsweek article on it, and it looks decent enough, although I wouldn't consider actually watching it.

I dont know how your lousy euros (Nah but really I love you guys) can take "controverseal programming" like us western bible beaters, but I thought it was interesting, but it starts as a comedy (the beginingof the season) and then endsup getting way to drama-ish...

We watched the first episode in my scriptwriting class a few weeks back. It was okay, I would have liked it if it got darker and had more of that black comedy from the opening in it.

If it's just become another soap-cum-comedy then I'm not interested.

Eh, it was OK. I only watched the first episode and saw bits and peices of others. Not something I'd watch but better than most of the other crap on TV right now.

Oh I forgot to review about the show as soon as it finished on Tuesday night. Well I really enjoyed the first two episodes. If you finished watching it on channel 4 you can watch the next episode straight away on E4. I thought it was really good and I like all the characters. The plots and the story lines were really good and I am looking forward to watch more upcoming episodes.

2x + pi * whoop^3: Care to elaborate? Are you saying that we should be shocked by this programming, or that we shouldn't be shocked as it's not controversial and your country just goes way over the top with its family values bullshit.

Because this is in no way controversial. I watched the first episode, seems alright to me. I don't expect many people here to enjoy it because you're all too busy masturbating to Princess Leia and the gold bikini where Leia gets it on with the bikini for four straight hours. A surprisingly successful low-budget flick. Ahem, I digress.

Europe gets some very odd shows that would never make it to the States. You sent a barage of complaints in Lieu of the Janet Jackson boob incident, I've seen prime time commercials in Mainland Europe showing full frontal nudity. See also shows like Now or Neverland where a team of Belgians and Dutch people have to compete to eat the most horrible foods, and the first one to throw up or refuse loses.

I think your country would throw a fit at the dirty pornographic communist tv in europe and refuse to return. Good ... nah, I love you guys really

There's another series called "Anatomy For Beginners", discection of a human body with explaination of the anatomy. I've only found it on "UKNova" which is a registered torrent site. Try various file-sharing programs if you want. It's morbidly interesting.

Shows like Desperate Housewives and Sex in the City are really pointless. They're are all about going around with other people and having sex. If you really want to watch these kinds of things just watch a freaking porno, I mean why tease yourself.

Moose: To me, that is the only time when it's acceptable. When it IS a porno.

Hell, that's why I watch Cinemax. It's the same thing, only the sex scenes don't get interrupted or cut by a scene change.

Juliet: I wouldn't waste time trying to defend yourself. If past arguments have shown anything, it will only come to a stalemate.

I think this is a stupid show. I tried to watch one episode of it, and unlike other shows, it's one where if you don't see it from the beginning, you'll be screwed the rest of the way. I watched TV Guide do this "Catch up on this season" And they showed DH. I tried to follow with what they said and I comprehended the majority of it, but I don't know who the hell any of them are.

But I agree with everyone else. This is a retarded show, with a bunch of sluts.

Heh, i see you've not tried that with 24?

I missed the first episode of this, even though i wanted to see it. Thank god they repeated the first 4 back-to-back after a few weeks, or i;d have been confused.

When I first heard about it I instantly thought, hmmmm sounds like Sex & the City 2. I never liked sex and the city. I know lots of people did and im happy for you. But I always thought the show was smug. Trash dressed up in a glossy high budget sheen.

However I saw the first 10 mintues or so of the first Desperate Housewives and I was impressed by the witty direction and dark humour. I would have watched the whole thing but I was going out.

A few weeks have gone by and Im back at home on a break. I caught this weeks episode since the rest of my family are now into the series. It doesn't take a genius to fill in the plot i've missed. But.....oh man, as much as it's the kind of show I usually hate, I enjoyed it. I even flipped over to E4 to watch the next one. Damn it, I like the show. It's clever, funny and....um "visually appealing".

Sure it's no classic. It appeals to everybodys base instincts. But it's entertaining, and there's not enough of that on TV these days. Atleast it's not another reality show!

So, yeah I enjoy Desparate Housewives.

I personally don't see what the big deal is with this show. To me, it just plays like your average boring soap opera, with slightly less terrible acting. And everyone trying in vain to hide that all they really want to do is have sex.

That is not true.

There are not much sex scenes in Desperate Housewives. In fact I don’t think I have seen any sex scene in the show ever. If you thinking about woman just want to have sex in a drama then go and watch Sex and The City and The L Word.

So the new season has started in the U.S. and I have downloaded the first episode. Has anybody seen it?

I love the bit where Brea changed Rex’s tie at his funeral and the new neighbours has a dark secret. I think Gabrielle’s life is turning out to be a mess unless she sort things out with John.
