Just as the topic says...could Bender possibly be bisexual? Because he shows many, many signs of being so. One, he shows major signs of having the hugest crush on Elzar, and also Calculon. I always thought it was just Bender being cute until he actually said "I love you" to Calculon in Futurama comics issue #15. I think he may have showed other signs that I can't remember...but anyway, discuss!

No, he's just an obsessive little child desperate for attention.

He just means "I idolize you!" in that way. Bender bi? Eww!

Er... Oh boy.
Let's put it this way. Bender is OBSESSED with Calculon and Elzar.
The "love you" thing could mean "I love your work" or something. So that's probably it.

Hey, I'm just speculating. I'm not saying he's bi, there's just lots of evidence. Calm down people, the world is NOT going to end.

First off, I always thought Bender was a-sexual.  It's not like robots can reproduce or anything.  Bender just "likes girls" because that's what he's programmed to...or he imitates what he sees others do.

Bender's obsession with Calculon, Elzar and the Globetrotters is just outbreaks of extreme hero-worhsip. He want's to be like them (rich, a famous chef, a Globetrotter, etc) not actually be with them.

The comics aren't canon as far as I know.

I've always thought Bender goes a little too far for his obsessions...

He's a god damn robot, come on. He's programmed to be pretty one dimensional here.

Either he was just acting, or maybe it was real, but doesn't "Bend Her" mean anything? Maybe he was acting, but the Prof. did say that the Femmzoil was "Sas shaying girlishly through his system" and that might have screwed him up...if he was already  ;)

But he was acting gay even b4 the Femmzoil. That was in the 4th Season. And he was kinda queer to Elzar even in the 1st season.

True. Very true. But I don't think Elzar was in the first season much

He did put his antenna in Elzars crotch, but no, Bender is walking the straight and narrow, or something.

Bender's an impressionable robot, if he goes after girls or boys, it doesn't qualify him as being straight or gay being that he really has no sex/gender. There will always be a place, though, in my heart, where Coilette and Calculon embrace! ....It's right next to Hermes and Zoidberg spooning. xD

Although mabye he is bi. He did merge programming with the ships AI in Love and Rocket. And the AI was female (If AI can have any gender).

The AI was a-sexual, all that actually changed from when it was arguing with Bender about the radio controls was it's voice, which I always thought was both very clever and kinda disturbing.

Not just its voice, it started acting female as well. Unless all robots are asexual. In which case it would not matter if Bender and the AI were dating.

Wouldn't you agree though that Bender is definatly a male robot.

I think "Bend Her" makes it clear that robots in the Futurama world, at least those of Bender's variety, DO have genders.  And I don't recall any indication of Bender being attracted to a man or a manbot in a romantic or sexual way.

This does raise a question, though (possibly one that's been discussed before; I'm not sure).  "Bend Her" was one among many episodes that implies that an antenna is a robot's "manhood."  He has it removed when he gets his sex changed.  Yet, in "Mother's Day," Mom says that ALL of her robots, which presumably includes some fembots, have antennae.  So what's the deal?

I dunno. I think tha was a typo, cause I haven't ever seen a fembot on Futurama with an antennae.

maybe the antennae of a fembot is internal.

Not only do they have genders, but they can cross them too - the transgendered vaguely puerto rican rans-bot in some episode, I forgot which, the one where they get X-Ray specs briefly - brilliantly voiced by John DiMaggio - "i'm just one upgrade away from being more woman than you can handle" or something along those lines.

Hey dudes, I just thought of something. If Bender was gay or bi, presumably his gaydar he had in an earlier episode of season 1 (forget which) would have picked him up as being non straight right? Just a thought.

Thats is a good point Paxxer. Maybe none of those guys he said were gay were really gay. Maybe it was picking up HIS Gayness.

Is Bender bi?

Yes. And by 'yes' I mean "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard."
