Fry blows the joke?

something that bothered me about the way fry reads the name for the orderer of the pizza when delivering it to the cryogenics lab

isnt the way to read it as "I see wiener" due to the full stops (periods) between the i and the c and the c and the wiener and not "icy wiener" as read

or is that a play on the fact that everyone in the room is frozen and has an icy everything?

i think itjust i.c (i see) wiener, but your theory is interesting. (but it wouldnt work because fry is stupid and probably wouldnt get the icy weiner joke.

Yes, the right way would be *Eye. See. Wiener*, but Fry pronounce it Icy Wiener because he just got the joke at that point. Hence his disappointment.

"Hello! I got a pizza delivery for (reads card, and realise he's been had) Icy..wiener..."

The interesting thing about this is that eventually, we find out that it was Nibbler who ordered the pizza.  I guess Nibbler has a sense of humor.

That was revealed in The Why of Fry... the episode that tied all the shadows, Nibblers, and other whatnot together (and then added some more loose ends).

I think Nibbler picked that title because he was trying to make it obvious it was a prank so Fry wouldn't spend all his time in the cryogenics lab looking around for somebody to give the pizza to, that way he would have his guard down...or it could just be a name. I have no idea.

Maybe it's the name Nibbler was known by before Leela named him "Nibbler."  (I was going to say it was his real name, but then I remembered that his real name would take ages to pronounce.  This suggestion really isn't serious, by the way.)

I think he did sound weird when he said it, but I don't think he really "blew" the joke. It was still funny.

I always thought Fry said it like I.C.Wiener, but now the debate about Icy Weiner has made the joke so much funnier.

It's Icy Weiner. Sez so on script on season 1 DVD. Plus, what's funnier? I see weiner? Or Icy weiner? Icy Weienr of course, considering he's in a cryogenics building! And I admit, the 1st few times I saw the ep' I thought it was "I see.."

I've never EVER noticed that joke! Always wondered why he said the I and the C run together, but never connected them with the word "icy" and cryogenics!
