So, I was watching an old episode of M*A*S*H just now, and heard used basically the same gag from Futurama's Anthology of Interest I:

"Blackmail is such an ugly word.  We prefer extortion." - leaving off the "the x makes it sound cool," though.

Clearly, the Futurama staff borrowed the gag from this classic series.  I was wondering if anyone else had noticed similar echoes of other media in our show, beyond more general parodies and references (the above line: borrowed gag.  The iHawk robot: parody/reference.)

Holy crap, I'm posting in on-topic.

When Farnsworth says "Leela you ignorant dope" it reminds me of when Dan Aykroyd used to say "Jane you ignorant slut" on the original SNL
