One of them (most likely the one in Pisa) is a replica. People just cared exactly enough to build a new structure exactly identical to the original but not enough to actually go to Monument Beach to reclaim their landmark.

Or they were afraid of the crazy governor.

Welcome to PEEL. Enjoy it here.

so they built one that was actually supposed to be leaning. cos i read that it was supposed to be just a staight tower. which raises further questions why is the one on monument beach leaning if the original design was supposed to be staight

sorry stupid question

i have a new website in the making www.futuramatribute.freewebspace.com

The thing that makes the Leaning Tower of Pisa so remarkable is the very fact that it's leaning. It's made Pisa world famous and is one of the greatest tourist attractions of Italy because of it. There are litterally thouands of regular non-leaning towers in the world but only one Leaning Tower. So naturally the Pisans built a leaning tower to get their worldfamous landmark back.

Only to have it be knocked over.  (And crushing some of the watchers at the time)

Six years ago I actually visited Pisa. I stood there in front of a barrier, looking up at it. Seeing the clouds move behind it makes you actually feel it's falling at you. Not a good feeling  :).

this might be an old thread, but: if the tower of pisa is almost falling to the ground on the safe land, it should fall down on the beach. so i think the original tower is the one in the cryonic woman episode. well, i do prefer to think that italy kept our tower at home..
