As the polls come to a close today and the results are revealed, and you (hopefully) eagerly await the Awards Ceremony, I would like to get your thoughts on how the Council ran things this year. What worked well? What could have been improved? Was it enjoyable? What did you think of the duration of the whole process? What suggestions do you have for the next Council? Let us (and future Councils know) by posting your thoughts here, thanks everyone!

Awards Ceremony to come in a few days pending on poll results (like if there are any ties or such things of that matter).

I think everyone went averagely well this (last) year. I mean, I had my ups and downs at the start of the year, but eventually I fit in. :)

I find it ashame I didn't get in the "Best newest PEELer" award though. I joined in December 2011 or around then, and didn't start posting properly until about 2012. But ah well. Life is tough.

Well, one of the council members is out of town and won't be back until tomorrow night at the earliest, that's one reason...

You'll wanna stick around though and see the Unreal trophies ;)

I don't think they will close, as FF said one of the members is away.

I believe Randi meant that the award ceremony will be delayed because of Frisco being away. Also, somebody needs to put the winner's names on the trophies. :shifty:

Maybe she meant both. Although she's being awfully quiet when were in need of closure... haha!

I think the peelies went well also. I was rather pleased I even got nominated for a couple of awards YAY :D.

The polls that haven't closed yet were opened later than the ones that are closed - they will automatically end once the 7 days of poll duration are up. I think some might have been created up to 12 hours later than the others. I don't remember, that was a week ago! :p

Also, somebody needs to put the winner's names on the trophies. :shifty:

Somebody is very good for doing that!

The polls will close automagically, due to the secret and illicit ingredients we used when making them.

I believe Randi meant that the award ceremony will be delayed because of Frisco being away.

You are technically correct, sir!

This is true - he was one of the 6000+ National Guards called to DC for the inauguration. He's coming home tomorrow :)

Also , most of the polls had three times as many votes as it did nominations. So either people are shy and didn't wanna post or we got ghost voters still lingering around :shifty:

For those who didn't care for the ceremonies: how could it be improved? We're open to constructive criticism so whoever is on the Council next year can learn from it and improve the whole procedure.

I didn't do amuch in the way of nominating/campaigning. My reasons:

1 - I am too damn lazy to open another tab, login to my email, and C&P a form to nominate with. Maybe next year the process could be handled via PM to a designated PEELIE dummy account.

2 - I have my opinions, but I think the good people of PEEL will arrive at acceptable decisions without me chiming in too much.

Pssh, as if PM nomming would be noticeably less work. :p

I had a great time. I was obsessively checking the PEELie subforum, and I'm way too  happy that I won things.

Good job. I'm sure the ceremony will be great, too. :)

I think this year went by pretty well over all.  the council seemed interested and interesting, though I'd prefer if these talks started out publicly before hand. seems you did a lot of work and had a good run. hope you all had fun doing it at the very least, as I know I have in the past. i wish people would stop voting this fake account I was given for awards also... there's so many other newer interesting people here that I'd love to get some peel love.  eventually the peel will be theirs, and I will be at their whim, the head of whatever actions they may make or their children take, and it is that legacy with which I will have loved them all.

I enjoyed the PEELies. Not that I have much to compare them to: I recalling making a few votes in the 2011 PEELies but I wasn't really involved in any way.

And it's a pleasure being the first PEELer with a username starting with "U" to win an award.

Okay, we've locked all the category discussion threads now, so all talk about awards can probably be done here rather than opening another thread. The rest of the PEELies should be posted up over the next ~12 hours I would say, it depends when each council member gets online and sees they can post awards up!

I feel I have to point this out, from pumpkinpie's under 20 win.
Quote from: Gorky
I have no doubt that the winner of this year's adolescent-honoring award will continue to make PEEL proud...provided she does not fall into the disturbing habits of some of her fellow under-twenty PEELers, like taking topless self-photographs...

I LOOK GOOD, DAMMIT!

Edited because the quote was originally attributed to Randi...but I must take responsibility for what I have done. - Gorky

Aw, you are very welcome, young lady. Congratulations again. :)

Also: I am now done presenting all of the awards for which I was responsible. If Maz, Randi, hobbitboy, or Svip do not share in pumpkinpie's satisfaction at my speeches, allow me to apologize...and discourage you from nominating me as next year's Best Writer of Awards Ceremony Copy.

But I can say for certainty that I am so proud of all you guys and for everyone pulling their weight in
