The Shark Award For Not Being A Sheep - Presented by TheMadCapper

Good evening, PEEL readers! I cannot express in mere words how pleased I am to present The Shark award for Not Being a Sheep! Please give me a moment to express it in a physical sense.

Stop looking so disgusted. You liked it and you know it.

Some posters are sharks. Some are sheep. The real shark of 2011 was a poster who always breathed salt water and never ate grass or seduced an innocent Scotsman or Kiwi. I speak of ShepherdofShark! Let your praises and lamentations flow out upon the land!

Sometimes you just have to be a vicious predator that kills everything that isn't a rock or a pile of smaller rocks. ShepherdofShark is just such an unfeeling bloodthirsty killer, so let's applaud him lest he feast upon our flesh next!

Least Likely to Follow Instructions - Presented by TheMadCapper.

PEEL is an orderly sort of place, thanks to our crack team of moderators and obsessive posters who will respectively edit/ban and browbeat people into being acceptable human beings. This award is not for them!

Today we celebrate the other posters, the bullheaded, the perverse, those incapable of understanding instruction. No matter how clearly or often it's explained, these special people will march to the beat of their own drum, for better or for worse.

In 2011, one person has stood out in the community, and has thus been voted Least Likely To Follow Instructions! Congratulations, Frisco17, you are truly the Least Likely To Follow Instructions! Come on up here and take your PEELie!

No, up here. Use the steps to the right of you. No, your other right. Up, not down. Why do you have no shirt on? You know what, I'm just going to have TNUK mail the award to you. Security, get up here.

Best Glasses - Presented by Bend-err

Yes, we have it all this year, even an award for the best glasses. Which means Svip's monocle never made the list, since that only qualifies him half way to be eligible for this award. And since half eligible would mean we had to cut the award in half we didn't want to do that. Also we did not take contact lenses into consideration either, because lets be fair, you can't really see them and it's hard to distinguish between the style of contact lenses (do they have different styles?) and thus judging who has the best is pretty stupid.

On PEEL they come in as many different styles and colours as there are PEELers wearing them, possibly. So how does one even begin to judge which are the best? Well for one you consider how well they fit with the person and their overall appearance. Also there have been many other factors that came into play as to why we chose the winner as we did, but they are too numerous to put to paper right now.

So without further ado, the best glasses in the year 2011 are the purple ones!

Oh yeah, I guess the owner should be mentioned too: Bendersfan1221

Best Avatar Maker - Presented by Svip

In a world without justice.  In a world without style.  In a world without tailors and suits.  One man shall rise.  Where people are similar, there will be uniqueness.  Where appearances are grey, there will be colours.  One man shall prevail.  And He shall destroy the unkempt and the sheep.

While names may distinguish people on paper, only an avatar will truly set people apart.  But without choice, we would all be the same.  Without craftsmanship, we would all be Fry.

It is not without thought that one man has risen to the challenge and decided that He shall craft such images to tell the people of PEEL apart.  A public task, that He has taken upon himself to bestow onto the community, whom are forever in his debt.

I speak, of course, of our Best Avatar Maker, Saint Bend-err of North Rhine-Westphalia.  May his works live forever.

Most under-appreciated PEELer

There's always one person who gets overlooked time and time again when handing out accolades. Sometimes it's somebody who really deserves it.

Sometimes they cry, alone in the dark. Sometimes they feel like there's no point carrying on.

Sometimes they need a little recognition.

So with that in mind, here's a little something for you i_c_weiner.

Best New PEELer - Presented by to i_c_weiner

I would like to thank everyone who voted for me for Best New PEELer of 2011. It took you six years, but you finally pulled through! I would like to especially thank the following for always thinking of me and pulling for me:

  • GermanFryFan, for welcoming me to PEEL and asking me to enjoy my stay.
  • Nasty Pasty, for always being there for me in the early days.
  • Dickhäuter, for having an umlaut in your name.
    And finally:
  • [-mArc-], because I need to kiss somebody's ass who's actually still around here.

I would also like to damn unto the eternally burning lakes of fire found in scenic Hell the following:

None of you thought me good enough to be awarded Best New PEELer of 2005, instead giving it to Ralph. You didn't even put me as one of the finalists! All these years later, do you really think you made the best choice? I mean, c'mon.

I would also like to thank Spira, for coming in 2nd place behind me for Best New PEELer of 2011. As the nice and totally humble person that I am, I have decided to allow you to be awarded this fine PEELie in my stead, so that you can carry on my spirit for the new generation. You'll be a fine addition to the PEELies canon. Plus, the PEELie would've looked tacky on my mantle next to all my others. Three cheers for that sassy rapscallion Spira!

Worst Beard - Presented by Zoidberg227

Beards.  Everybody loves them, some even have them.  From world-famous winners of international competitions, to the lowly clam, beards adorn many a face.  There are nearly as many styles of beard as there are beards.  There’s the traditional full, manicured beard, the goatee, the Snidely Whiplash, the weird-beard on that smelly guy who’s been living in Zuccotti Park for the last three months.

But then there’s the venerable mutton chop.  A derivative of the sideburn, it has adorned a multitude of famous faces – General Ambrose Burnside, Chester A. Arthur, John T. Ford, the King, and even a young Wolverine.   Alas, the horrendousness of all pale in comparison to the ‘chops wielded by one very extinguished PEELer.

It is with great honor that I present the Worst Beard PEELie to TheMadCapper!  Congratulations, sir.  Enjoy this trophy made of solid gold-plated facial hair.  I swear it’s facial hair, really.  Nope, not something else.

Wait. Make that "...with great horror".

The Avatar Whore Award - Presented by x.Bianca.x

Avatar; dictionary.com defines the word as:
"The descent of a deity to the earth in an incarnate form or some manifest shape; the incarnation of a god."

But of course, this is PEEL. If avatars were really gods here, the religion thread would have far more 5000 word posts than usual.

But no, that isn't the kind of avatar I'm talking about as I stall to announce the winner of the Biggest Avatar Whore on PEEL.

The winner of this award makes it their mission to present to the world who they are using multiple cut out screenshots of the P.E Crew and other fellows, while being a top poster in the avatar thread, still wanting more.

There have been past, failed attempts at the kind of avatar escort service the winner of this award has going on, but none have done it better than this PEELer (this year).

Congratulations DannyJC13!

Most Prolific NationStates Player - Presented by Xanfor

On the far away planet of Prima, where time flows at an irregular rate and the mysterious Urallians terrorize the occupants of the Illkuknuis continent with their orbital Polyn' weapons, there is never a shortage of sudden plot twists and slowly unraveling ancient conspiracies. For the year of 2011 (real time), there have been precious few PEELers willing to continue the mystery and intrigue of alternate universe politics in the absence of CyberKnight, overlord of the DROOPWiki. But there is one PEELer who has consistently, albeit less frequently than usual, continued to post updates on his countries. One PEELer who has refused to let adversarial circumstances keep him from playing the game. He has even taken it upon himself to edit the replacement wiki almost constantly. And who knows... maybe one day the rest of us will follow in his encouraging example. I hereby award this PEELie for Most Prolific NationStates Player to Zed 85.

(Of course, CyberKnight really needs to fix the DROOPWiki anyway. Pretty please?)

Stalkeriest PEELer - Presented by JoshTheater

Proposing marriage after a week of knowing them, tailing them in our cars, setting fire to their lawns…these are things all of us at one time or another have done to impress a special lady. They are understandable learning experiences that we all go through before we discover that really, all girls are horrible gelatinous monsters who need to be expelled from the face of our planet.

But when you create a Firefox add-on that makes all of a forum's posts appear to be by that one girl, YOU’VE CROSSED THE LINE!

By accepting this award, Svip has agreed to maintain a safe 4000 mile distance from his victim. If these terms are violated, the International PEEL Police will not hesitate to remove his testicles and typing fingers.

Now go back to molesting flags you dirty flagophile!

Best PEEL Meet Documentation - Presented by Bend-err

Since the creation of PEEL there have been countless bigger and smaller PEEL Meets all over the world and most of them have been documented well in various forms.
Some PEELers like to take photos, some write thousands of word about the Meets and their experience and some edit the wiki to make sure none of the informations on who met who when and where (and why) gets lost.

Yet this year one PEELette went a step further. Taking photos wasn't enough for her, so in her diary where she documented every day of the Mmmoomeg-athon UK she started drawing more and more pictures of various situations of those days.
Luckily for us she posted all those little Chibi-style drawings on PEEL for everyone to see what fun was had at that particular PEEL Meet.

So from now on the bar for documenting PEEL Meets has been raised and only time will tell if anyone will step up to even touch the bar again.

As you might have guessed by now, the award for best PEEL Meet documentation goes to Morgan_G19.
