So, when should we shut down the polls to voters and start working on the award presentations? Does anybody have an opinion?

(NB: Your opinion may or may not be listened to).

The 18th is a good date, that way we have more time to get speeches and graphics done and don't have to do all between Christmas and New Year.

Also I really don't think many more votes will come from this point on.

I presumed they were already closing on the 24th. Was I wrong? I can't read.

Some councilmen are busy over the actual festival of Xmas, and we'd like to roll out the awards ceremony in as timely a fashion as possible once the polls close. So we're trying to see whether people would rather have it done sooner, or later.

We may or may not decide to take any notice of what people would like.  :shifty:

I voted the 24th, so you can tell the person that came in dead last that they fail at life on Christmas.

But ONLY the people who came in dead last, and tell no one anything else, and lock the results away in a small box and throw it into the ocean, where it will be found in 2351, by a young boy the age of 10 who comes from an orphanage, and who will treat it as his most prized possession for the rest of the 18 seconds he has left to live.

Wow, I thought you only tried too hard in fc.  How wrong I was.

I agree with Bend-err.

The 18th. The suspense is killing me. That, and the fact that the suspense of failure is too much.

TL;DR, get it over with.

To be honest, I see no reason why everything can't be put together within less than a week.  A few people write some speeches and make a few graphics.  Arguably, one could easily do all that in a day.

I picked the 30th, although that may be a long time, so that it doesn't interfere with the holiday type stuff, and everything can roll out with the new year.  I suppose the intention is to keep the polls locked from view until the ceremony commencements?  I would suggest that after the ceremony type stuff is rolled out, all of the polls be viewable so people can look at all of the information that went into the polls; people will enjoy that.

I know I'm in a minority that picked the 30th, and to be honest, that's a long time to let this keep going, but I suppose it'll allow people to speculate some more, and as I said, my perspective in voting was because of the time frame lining up with the holidays.  If you push the date out that far you could also have the council members do all the ceremony stuff before hand; that way only minor changes still need to be made (if necessary).  To be honest, since the polls are mostly decided at this point (probably, I guess?) the council could already taylor the speeches and award graphics to the people who are most likely to win at this point.  If the polls tend to change you'll have to go back and redo some things, but most of the work will already be done.

I feel like we aren't going to get that many more votes than we already have since the polls have been up for a while now already. So 18th for me.

I chose the 18th so everything can conceivably get done before the New Year and everyone doesn't have to worry about someone getting distracted by my being there for a week and a half. But mainly if it's all done on the 18th everything can hopefully be done and over with for the New Year and then we can all deal with the complaints about the outcomes of whatever awards

As a member of the council who will be writing a good chunk of the speeches, I beg to differ. I work Monday-Friday and have a social life on the weekends. At best I get a couple of hours a day where I'm not too damned tired to write speeches. A few days could see it done, at a push, but over the holidays I'm going to be tied up with family stuff so those days are out, and the days I'm not doing family things - I'm working.

Looks like the majority of people want the PEELies wrapped up and delivered as soon as possible.

I shall prod my elves as necessary.

With 70% of the vote in favour, polls will close on Sunday. Expect individual awards to be handed out as and when the statue and speech is ready for each one (could be a few days to a couple of weeks before this starts to happen). As awards are handed out, they'll be placed on the wiki, and their poll threads will be closed. There'll be a link to the awards thread at the end, which will be stickied. Stickied and locked following each presentation. We'll aim to have the entire thing completed, done and dusted by the first of January, but no promises.

Any questions? Ask them in this thread. Thanks to everybody who has voted so far. If you've yet to vote for anything, now is the time to do so.

Give us the speeches that we're doing and I'll get right on that as soon as life stops being a bitch and giving me things to do.
