Xanfor is sort of scary-smart, but coffeeBot is also quite the brainiac. In this case, I may have to go with my whole "A Vote for coffeeBot or spira is a Vote for Me" principle.

How many of the candidates have a Master's degree?

Three, I think. soylentOrange, coffeeBot, and FYP.

How many are going for their PhD right now?

I think soylentOrange has his already, coffeeBot is taking time out of hers, and FYP is currently partway through his studies.

I don't have a master's yet, and I dropped out of my PhD program. I'll probably get one or the other eventually, but I'm taking a "break" (i.e. getting another bachelor's first).
Long, overly dramatic story.

* booze imagines coffeBot's mansion full of men standing around in glass cases. The later properly labelled with their scientific bachelor names.

* kmpari imagines booze and coffee 'mixing'

Ah, pointless innuendo.

Neins, soy doth not have it already either, is in the process of toiling for his.  Arduously.  And considering it seems to keep switching around between and involves and comprises everything from dark matter to masers to gamma ray bursts to cosmic microwave background radiation to interstellar envelopes to Very Large Arrays of desert telescopes, it is somewhat toilsome indeed.
Not to deny that that list or field of candidates (and/or PhD candidates!) is brainy.

(brainier than a cotton field)

Thus however,

Is a decree really required to be smart?  Doesn't it more show that you are capable of living up to society's requirements?  Sheep away!

Well of course not.  Neither a decree nor a degree.  Also I believe I am going to vote for you for Nurdliest Snip - I surmise you have earned that - I will probably post there at some
point  some further time  at an undisclosed junction  in an unknown future - and I already pledged my vote to you for Avatar.  Also you art not a sheep, but a bonobo duck.

The fact that there are not a lot of votes in this poll tells me we have some stupid PEELers. Prove you're smart and cast a vote.

I voted for Xanfor. He's several different types of smart, rolled into one.

As for the discussion of doctorates - it's been said that advanced degrees are more of a testament to perseverance than intelligence. Not to demean higher education, of course. I damn well would expect my doctor to have earned his degree fair and square.

The smart PEELers will have already figured out who has won. The rest of you will have to click the link.
