It's a book by Stephen Hawking I've never read. So, I can't answer your question VPActionRanger, but I answered yours, Xmpel.  :D Hurrah for Burns!

i beleive chapter 11 or 10 is entitled arrow of time in the book a brief history of time by steven hawking. i just read that part and i remembered the scene in HIOR. in the AoT, it says how if the universe began to get smaller, then theoretically, broken teacups would reassemble and we'd remember things in the future, but that was proven wrong.

I don't think there is any connection between that scene and what is discussed in ABHOT. What Hawking was trying to explain was that the laws of entropy would be reversed if our universe was closed and it had entered its contraction phase.

but he specifically used the teacups as an analogy. I wouldn't be suprised b/c david x coehn(sp?) majored in physics.

Yeah, I made the connection, too.  There was an episode of Nova once where they used the same visual image, running film of a teacup breaking backwards, to explain Hawking's work on entropy.

There's no obvious narrative connection, because the Cryonic Woman joke has nothing to do with entropy, but I think it's fairly safe to say that Hawking suggested the image, because I would bet you a donut DXC is very familiar with A Brief History of Time.  Plus, it was pretty cool, too.
