Here's a question, with all the romance bits being flung about around valentine's day, what will become of 'A Tale of Two Santas'?  Broadcast sometime soon, or made to wait until next Christmas? (I hope not. We've had too much episode shuffling as it is.)

Ok, now that I've recovered from that, I think I can give a legitimate response to the topic. I can't see fox airing it anytime other than christmas, so I guess we're gonna have to wait another damn year. But won't football still be in season around christmas time? So it'll probably be pre-empted again or something. Bah, stupid fox.

Do you think the writers will do another christmas episode for season four? Or will they decide against it, since they still have the unaired Tale of Two Santas? I hope they do another one and get pre-empted again. Then they can repeat the process for season five, and keep going until they can just air an entire season of unaired christmas episodes.

Shut up you!  I am santa!  ok maybe not but i do have a solution to the football problem, every time theres an nfl game in your town, simply bring a sniper rifle and shoot all the players, eventualy there will be no more players and no more football and then there will only be FUTURAMA!!!  Bwahahahahahahaha!!!

then they could do a spin off show of Christmas themed Futurama episodes.  And then the show would get cancelled and then 10 years later they will be part of a DVD collection for the low low price of $99.99

Football won't be a problem--remember, they were able to show a Futurama rerun the week before Christmas, then a Simpsons rerun Christmas week; they could easily have shown a new Futurama episode either week. They didn't because the episode was "too scary" or "too violent" for a pre-8pm timeslot.

As for what will happen to it, there are two conflicting rumors:

1. According to someone who talked to someone at Fox, "Two Santas" will be shown next year.

2. According to the AskFox lady's last response to me, it will never be shown unless Futurama's timeslot changes (which it won't, because it's the only successful 7pm show they've ever had and they don't want to screw that up), but it may be included on the videos and DVDs they're going to sell at some future point.

Believe whichever you want. I suspect that next year for Christmas we're going to see the first Christmas episode again, and season 5 we'll finally get to see a new one....

Four reasons.

According to Fox, Futurama is the only show that's ever succeeded in the 7pm timeslot, and they're not going to mess with that--at least as long as the ratings continue. (Which also means, unfortunately, that it'll probably still be on at 7pm in season 5). What everyone forgets is that despite the terrible timeslot, despite the football BS, despite the lackluster advertising, Futurama still does very well. Fox may not understand that, but they definitely like it.

Fox has already ordered enough episodes to get half-way through season 5. That doesn't mean they _have_ to show them, but they've already paid for them, and anything else they throw on at 7pm will cost them money (which they won't spend unless they have a good reason).

Fox believes that the videogame franchise for Futurama could be huge, and they'll run the show until that either turns out not to be true or they run out of games. We probably won't know how that's going until far enough into season 4 that they'll have already made the commitment.

Even if Fox decides not to pick the show up for a fifth season, they'll almost definitely buy it as a potential mid-season replacement (see Family Guy, PJ's, etc.). That's not a guarantee that we'll see any episodes, but Fox doesn't usually buy as many replacements as they did this year, so it's a pretty good chance.

So, unless Groening and friends decide to stop doing the show, I think it's very likely that we'll be watching Futurama two years from now.
