Does anyone else think that there is a place for a David Bowie guest appearence dressed as his 1972 character Ziggy Stardust. He could be hanging round with his band 'the spiders from mars'. it would be amazing.
Any ideas on other guest appearences that would be cool.

G.W. Bush would be nice.

Why. You couldn't really do much to his character. He already acts like a cartoon character. He choked on a pretzel for christ sake. Now Saddam Hussain would be more spectacular. Ha ha.

No, since they haven't actually been on the show.

To be honest I'm not that big a fan of guest stars, I prefer to have just fictional characters  :hmpf:

Since they haven't been in the show? But we ARE talking about characters though.

Has Patrick Stewart made an appearance?

No, but it would be cool if he did. Patrick Stewart has a fantastic voice, I think he would work well. Afterall his job as Number One was brilliant. If they one day introduced the commander of the DOOP fleet, he would be a shoe-in.

To an extent I agree with Tweek, guest stars are great, but should come natural. They shouldn't be forced in, just look at The Simpsons to see what could go wrong.

I wouldn't mind hearing Andrew Robinson do a guest appearance.

Number One is performed by Jonathan Frakes.
Andrew Robinson? Sounds great.

I think it'd be funnier, in Bowie's case, if he was a completely minor character (a la, Pamela Anderson in "Fry...Slurm Factory" ). Perhaps, a competeing Buggalo rancher on Mars? (Ziggy Stardust and the Buggalo From Mars?) That way, it wouldn't be obvious like the Simpsons is becoming, but it'd still be there.

I agree.  Guest stars aren't really necessary most the time and quickly get abused or become a writing crutch.  The last few seasons of the Simpsons are a good example.  It seems like every other episode of that show has guest stars.

That's because the guest stars commandeer the episode, and the plot revolves around them. Al Gores guest appearance in "Crimes Of The Hot" was actually quite brilliant.

He said the "Dead Kennedys," not "The DK Kennedys," or whatever crap the remaining memmbers are passing themselves off as. I assume Ben has some sort of time machine, in which he can go back to 1984 and get the DK to record their lines then.  :p

The Simpsons had it the best, guest stars who did voices of fictional characters, and sometimes mocked themself. Example: Michel Jackson (Leon), Liz Taylor (Maggie), Michelle Pfiffer (spelled wrong), etc.

I know cross-overs are cliche, but I wouldn't mind seeing at least a cameo of Mr. Burns as he appeared at the end of the "rosebud" simpsons episode.

"Oh Bobo...I know I say this every century, but I'll never lose you again"

If I'm not mistaken, this scene was the catalyst for the whole "head in a jar" thing...it's certainly the first episode (simpsons or futurama)that features such an idea.

*Do the Bumpty Bump*

Since the show's coming back, I thought that this would be a great time to bump this thread.

Who would you want to see guest star in the new Futurama episodes/DVDs/beyond? I'd like to see a return of Star Trek and Melllvar. That'd be an awesome episode.

Star Trek Alum:
Patrick Stewart (Classic, dynamic, charming)
Avery Brooks (Black Patrick Stewart and the only man to bring to light our country's staggering lack of flying cars)
Kate Mulgrew (Remember her role in The Black Donnelys?  Me either.)
Brent Spiner (His capacity for comedy frequently astounds me)
LeVar Burton (But you don't have to take my word for it)
Jeri Ryan

Other sci fi voices:
James Earl Jones (If you can afford him)
Mark Hamil (An accomplished voice actor in his own right)
Any of the guys from MST3K
William Daniels (But only as some form of transportation)
Christopher Lloyd
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson (We know at least one of them will be a robot)

Others:
R Lee Ermy (Always plays a certain type of character, but, god, he's awesome)
Al Gore (He'll be back.  I don't like him, but I've been entertained by his previous appearances)
