Hi, I'm new here and just read something that made me panic about Futurama.

On Zap2it.com, there was an article about the new show Oliver Beene being moved from its original fall timeslot to a premiere date in January. Here's an excerpt.

*LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - When a network moves a show from its scheduled fall premiere to midseason, it's often a sign of trouble.

That's not the case with "Oliver Beene," FOX insists. In fact, the network is delaying the premiere until January in order to help the show.

"Oliver Beene," about an eccentric Cold War-era family as seen through the eyes of the 11-year-old title character, is scheduled for the 7:30 p.m. slot on Sundays. But because of FOX's baseball and National Football League coverage, it would likely be pre-empted numerous times. Thus, the network will wait until January to launch it.

"It's not fair to the show" to do otherwise, a FOX spokesman tells Zap2it. The network took a similar path with the first season of "Malcolm in the Middle," which premiered in January 2000 and has since become one of FOX's top-rated series.*

So I was just wondering, since that show is on AFTER Futurama, will Futurama's next season also be delayed till January?

I also do love how Fox has no mention about Futurama, just that it's not fair that their new show gets preempted by baseball. Screw them.

And it's fair that Futurama isn't given a chance???

Well it pretty much has been pushed back several months anyway for the last two years, I don't see how this year is any different.

Of course it isn't fair, Fox isn't out to make viewers of Futurama happy.  They are out to make sure the Fox executives favorite shows stay on (which isn't futurama), and hope they can make enough money of the Simpsons merchandise to stay at the position they are at.

...of course, god forbid that, with the slot open, they'd put Futurama there temporarily.

Because someone might actually WATCH it.

FOX sure as hell wouldn't want anyone actually watching Futurama...

They may hold it back to January for a season start, they may start it in the fall, either way they'll treat it poorly and it will be pre-emted often.

From what little I've read of this new "Oliver Beene" travisty, they should just scrap it and show Futurama reruns instead.  :D

I'm sure it was FOX who insisted that the opening caption of "The 30% Iron Chef" was "if accidently watched, induce vomiting".

Welcome to PEEL, Fancy Pants. Enjoy it here.  :D

With the way Fox is handling the show, it would come as no surprise that it would be aired after the Super Bowl, rather than after the World Series.

It'll only be "fair" in my eyes if Oliver Beene tanks big time.  I want it to be left in its 7:30 slot durig fall so FOX can see how it does when pre-empted all the time.  So unfair.

7:30 timeslot doesn't really get pre-empted that often actually.  It is only if football goes into overtime.  However, the 7:00 timeslot is designated "after football stupid show" where some guys talk about the highlights of the game for 30 minutes.  Where the 7:30 might be pre-empted, the 7:00 is just thrown out.

I can't find a Futurama T-shirt anywhere that delivers in England, and I'm pretty sure that the mail order catalogues don't do one, so I guess it is off to the T-shirt printing shop.

Incidentaly what do you think I should put on it?
