Alright, I made one for the first episodes of the seasons, now for the finales.

I voted for "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings". Not only is it one of the best episodes of Season 4, but also one of the best of the entire series, and a really good end to the original run.

I was tempted to give it to "Reincarnation" because of the shear hilarity and superb animation, but TDHAIPT is just so damn well written.

(Also, I wonder how many votes "The Cryonic Woman" will get... :p)

Devil's Hands, hands down. Fry and the Slurm Factory is the only one in the same ballpark as Devil's Hands, and it's not even very close between those two. In my opinion.

Ahahah you too my idea from other thread and ran with it, love it. I was waiting for someone t make this thread :D

I think this is a good question, because there have been several instances when the show wasn't sure it was going to be picked up again and there were very open ended "finales"...I love Devil's Hands for the excellent shipping, but I need to look at the other choices...I am most likely going to pick that one, but it is very close between that and ITWGY looking at the choices. Fry and the Slurm Factory was great too and so was Reincarnation. I didn't hate The Cryonic Woman but know many people on here did so I am guessing that one will be extremely low, if anyone chooses it.

Devil's Hands, easily. I also really love Wild Green Yonder and "Reincarnation," but nothing beats the original series finale. It just gets everything right, in terms of humor and emotion and character send-offs, and the opera itself has to be one of the most brilliant things the show has ever done.

ITWGY, because it made me get upset, I really thought it was the last thing we'd see of Futurama. (Besides comics and merchandise.) It was a good ending overall, and there were a billion possibilities on the other side of that wormhole, so it was nice to imagine your own happy ending. :D

None of the episodes come close to Devil's Hands for me.

Fry and the Slurm Factory is good, as is Reincarnation, and The 30% Iron Chef is passable, but I really dislike the other two.

Fry & The Slurm Factory easily, not a hard choice seeing as it's my second favourite episode out of the entire show. I absolutely love it, one of my most watched eps and the humour is totally up my alley. Devil's Hands comes second for me, another great ep, but not quite as fun for me. Reincarnation would by my third choice...

Definitely TDHAIPT.  ITWGY would be a close second.  Reincarnation was funny but didn't really have anything special about it to make me rate it highly.

Though I will say the first Anthology of Interest would have been the best season ender of them all, if it were a season end episode :P

The very end of it was just too good.

Though I will say the first Anthology of Interest would have been the best season ender of them all, if it were a season end episode :P

In terms of airing, it actually was.

....which speaks to this being at tad unfair to The Cyronic Woman and 30% Percent Iron Chef. Considering where they fell in the production lines, it's unlikely they were ever really intended to be season-closers or even openers, since they had to know by then that FOX would likely hold them over into the following season. Even with Fry and the Slurm Factory, they probably at least thought that FOX might air all 13 episodes before the summer, and the others are all obvious, but those two were undoubtedly produced without their use as actual finales ever being particularly considered. Neither is among the strongest ever episodes (especially Iron Chef) for sure, but they were really just regular episodes that happened to fall at the end of the production run..

With that said, Devil's Hands is my favorite, though Reincarnation was really awesome.

Hey you're right.  It did air at the end of the season.  I knew there was a reason I thought it was an ender in my head.

I'm still the only vote for Fry & The Slurm Factory? This saddens me, but at least I can take some solace in the fact that no one has dared vote for The Cryonic Woman yet, and it better stay that way...

The Cryonic Woman was better than The 30% Iron Chef, but only because it involved Applied Cryogenics. :p

2. "Reincarnation"
3. "Fry and the Slurm Factory"
4. "Into the Wild Green Yonder"
5. "The Cryonic Woman"

I don't understand all the hate for The 30% Iron Chef, I've always loved that episode. However, I agree with Gorks and tnuk- Devil's Hands is a hilarious and emotional finale that really wraps up the season nicely.

Hah, I love how much Devil's Hands is absolutely dominating this. For good reason. It's utterly phenomenal.

30% Iron Chef is a good episode, but it doesn't stand out and it certainly didn't do anything special as a season finale.

True, I didn't see it as a finale either. It was still a good episode, and very underrated. Devil's Hands is definitely the best.

It's really not fair to compare Devil's Hands with stuff like Cryonic Woman and 30% Iron Chef as to which is the better finale. Devil's Hands was created with the intention of being not just the season finale but the series finale. Obviously, it's going to be stronger as a finale than mere wrap-up-the-season shindigs.

Well, to an extent. It was created with the intention of serving as an open-ended finale so as to cover their backs if they weren't renewed - with the knowledge that their chance of renewal was about 50/50.

The intention of being a viable season finale, then. Basically, it tried to bring things to some sort of conclusion. This was a goal that wasn't shared by Cryonic Woman and 30%.

The goal of "Cryonic Woman" appears to have been to annoy as many people as possible, and the goal of "30% Iron" appears to have been to subtly announce that LSD is perfectly legal in the year 3000.

I enjoyed The Cryonic Women, it was more of a "haha" episode than a finale, but enjoyable, nonetheless. I loved the scenes when Fry and Bender worked at Applied Cryogenics. Also, the LA jokes at the end.

Cryonic Woman's beginning (back to the cryo chamber, someone from the 20th century) was imhO really promising, and also well executed.
There was also nothing wrong with ridiculing an endtime scenario a la Mad Max, in fact, that is one of those sci fi classic Futurama would have had to ridicule sooner or later.

But the final would have just required more of the regular cast, and not just Fry and Michelle as seen in the second half.

I think the authors got too greedy in here: Sure, that "Mad Max" scenario sounded tempting, it was such a classic that they probably wanted to reserve it for a final. But yet...even a classic can bear only the potential for a "middle-of-the-season-filler" episode.

Agreed, it could've been much better without so much filler. I still think it was a solid 7.5/10. But from that point, I was ready to move on from Fry's past. (Untill I saw Jurassic Bark, The Luck of The Fryrish and so on).

And TNK, the list of things I've heard is now complete! Nah, just kidding.  :p

I like Cryonic Woman. More so than Iron Chef, which is fine but a little dull and slow. But I do think both were just meant to air as regular episodes in the following season, which is exactly what happened. I doubt they'd puposely end a season on Bender cooking.

Oh yeah, just for the record:
ImhO, it might have been better to count "Overclockwise" as the (canon) final, as the other episodes were also canon.
(But I didn't start that poll, and it's always very easy to be the wise guy in hindsight :D )
