This episode was a meh to me.  So much I cannot be bothered liking it or disliking it.  But as one of the main contributors on the Infosphere, I guess I'll have to watch it again, soonish.

This was a great episode! I loved it! Finally, we get an Amy episode that doesn't involve the Kif relationship! This is the first time this has ever happened since PYHOMS (which nonetheless is still about a relationship), so yeah, it's about time we had an Amy episode which doesn't involve getting it on with someone! Nice!

The main cat was hillarious I thought, as was Professor Katz. And also, finally, Wornstrom gets his series 6 debut! Was also nice to see the full-length theme intro, first time since Rebirth.

The story was complicated and may take several viewings, but on a whole, this episode was one of my favourites of series 6 so far, and I'm ranking it in 2nd place. Many people were slating this episode before it even aired - well IMO it's turned out great, so lesson here is, don't slate until you see it.

This season is really coming into its own. This episode had a great plot (was really smart to link the Egyption worship of cats in like they did), character development (Amy finally graduating) and some great gags to boot.

I loved Farnsworth's last line: "You've got a bright future Amy. As sure as the sun sets in the East!"

I was going to give it a 6, but I'll kick it up to an 7 for the can-canning cats.  I don't know why but I found that hilarious.  The Meow-Mix equivalent of the Close Encounters song was funny, too.

I guess the can-canning cats were hit or miss. For me it was a definite miss, but I understand those considering it hit.

It was very family guy IMO. (For the record I love FG, but FG is very hit and miss). The can-cans didn't bother me, but they didn't need to be there IMO

I'm giving it a 2/10. I'm not a cat person, and cat humor is kind of annoying. I think I only got two or three lols out of this. Just not a strong episode in any aspect. :(

I thought it was a solid episode. It has a generally good plot, compelling character development, great visual gags and was just a lot of fun to watch. Sure, maybe it's not so fun if you don't like cats much, but this episode was by no means "horrific" in any form. It was particularly clever how they linked the cats to Ancient Egypt.

Not an AMAZING episode, by any means, but it's a good, solid episode that fills the gap well between some major episodes.

Also leela, when she was emptying the litter box.

It might be worthless, but she still has to empty the litter box.

Not my point. While emptying it she called it 'volatile dark matter'

She may have called it "volatile" but it obviously wasn't going to be used as spaceship fuel since she was just dumping it into the lava.  Yes I realized they called it "inert" at the end of BG but maybe they just meant "inert as a fuel source" I'm just speculating here.

I freakin' hate cats.

I'm allergic, but other than the potential dying while near them, they're alright. As long as they aren't biting off my hand and clawing through the skin on my stomach, I could live with them.

I loved this episode. Then again, I love cats. While this was a bit lacking in the plot area, it more than made up with it by the amount of great jokes.

No, flowers are lovely. A cute girl eating ice cream is lovely. The sun cresting a hill in the early morning is lovely.

Cats are murderous furballs who try to trip you when you are going down stairs, attempt to spread disease by bringing dead vermin into the house, and mooch and whine whever something isn't in their interest.

I second totalnerduk. How does anyone manage to hate cats? Cats are cute, they are self-dependent and they clean themselves, hunt food on their own, they manage weeks alone if necessary. Perfect pet.

Check your balance and give your cat food when it needs it. And maybe check your sight.

Sounds like some strange breed or a cat that is incredibly spoiled. You have probably had some worrying experiences with spoiled indoor cats.

I can't believe how many people are knocking this episode. They clearly had pre-conceptions going in about the Cat premise. Watch it again, the science
was pretty hilarious, as usual, and I thought it had a lot of solid moments. Tying the alien cats to ancient Egyptians was brilliant as well. The hate on new futurama is so misplaced

Maybe you should read the thread and the forum before writing. Hate is pretty rare, and most people thought this episode was around standard (7/10), but some thought it was brilliant and some hated it. That's the deal with most episodes.

I have a cat. Not a cat fan. Dogs are good. You feed a dog, you groom a dog, you shelter a dog and that dog looks at you and says "That must be God".

I don't need an animal to feel like I'm the messiah in order to be happy, but I'd rather be treated with respect than ignored unless I'm pouring food into a bowl or willing to pet the thing.

All cat problems aside, though, the episode itself was great. 8.5/10.

No, A cute girl eating ice cream is lovely.

Creepy.

But I don't hate cats. Although, I prefer dogs. But if this episode used dogs instead of cats, it would have been a lot worse. For one, Dr. Dogz would sound terrible, Katz sounds like a much more realistic surname (probably because it is), and it's a lot easier to make jokes about cats than dogs.

This episode was pretty good, I'm not a cat person either but that really didn't affect my perception of the episode. I find it funny that some people didn't like this episode because of the cats. Oh well. Anyway to quote Hermes, "Didn't we used to be a delivery company?", that was the overall feeling I got not just from this episode but from the season. Sure they deliver stuff but it's definitely become background noise. I like these new episodes but why not have a back to basics sort of episode ala My Three Suns?

As someone pointed out a while ago, they only ever did like four deliveries a season in the original run. The delivery thing being background noise isn't really anything new.

By the way. So the Egyptians learned pyramid building from the Thubanians, then the Osirisians visited and the Egyptians told them? :D

I knew it! Insane theories, two; regular theories, a billion.

Anyways, on the subject of the cat can-can: I thought it worked pretty well, mostly because it was only for, like, a second or two and didn't keep going until it wasn't funny anymore (not that dragging funny things out until they're not funny anymore isn't hilarious, but it's not really Futurama's thing.)

We know they will go on a delivery in "Benderama".

So I wasn't the only one thinking that instantly when I saw that part of the episode.

Nor was I.

It does beg the question: Wouldn't the cats have died off on their home planet after a few thousand years of either freezing or roasting?

Yeah, so many people in more advanced countries die each year because of dead mice.

My parents have a dachshund that kills mice. In fact, three out of five of their dogs have killed mice, that I know of.

I did read the entire thread, get off your pedestal buddy. You aren't better than me so don't act like it.
There are definitely more average reviews, but the "bad" reviews are all deeming it the worst episode of all time, which is the problem I have. This episode is better than NUMEROUS episodes from the original run.
The reviews over at CGEF aren't so hot either

As has been stated before me, this was a very hit and miss episode. The science jokes and Amy/Nibbler partnership were great, while some of the cat jokes felt a bit lacking.
On a positive note, I really enjoyed the Egyptian cats tie-in, and I was particularily satisfied with Amy's character development. For too long she's been portrayed as a rather flat character who was only used for a joke about her clumsiness, air-headed tendencies or relationships with men. It was nice to see a call-back to the fact that she was an intern for Planet Express. The fact that she actually did something useful and intelligent was a breath of fresh air for me that added a new layer to her character and rebooted my appreciation for Amy.

A pretty decent episode as a whole. 7/10.
