German mercenaries are great in most situations but you just know a balding guy in a dirty vest would show up to ruin the plan.

Yeah this plan is just going to end with John DiMaggio in a tank top crawling barefoot through the heating vents to stop us.

Yeah this plan is just going to end with John DiMaggio in a tank top crawling barefoot through the heating vents to stop us.

That is... quite the mental image.

I've decided I'm going to bring my laptop tomorrow, but I'm not going to post here during the panel.  Instead, I'm going to take notes and pictures, and then immediately after the panel I'll get in line for the autograph session and organize/post what I can to the forums while I'm waiting (assuming I'm not beaten to it by then).  I'm afraid if I post as things are going on that I'm going to miss something.

This is also assuming I actually get wifi reception in Autograph Alley. :P

ETA: No laptop at the panel means I'm also going to attempt to get a question in.  Is there any question in particular that any of you want to see answered?

"Many people have noticed Nibbler's shadow on the ship in the very last scene of Into the Wild Green Yonder, are you going to use nibbler's mind blanking abilities as an excuse to reset Fry and Leela's relationship, if not the entire series."

I'll give you a list of possibilities:
"Will there be more Anthology of Interest? Will somebody other than Fry/Bender/Leela ask a question?"
"Will there be more Waterfalls?"
"Will we get a Morbo episode? Some other secondary character getting more focus?"
"What new characters to you have up your sleeve?"

And mention PEEL. It will be interesting to see if they're familiar with the board.

Unrelated double post:
John DiMaggio just posted this on his Facebook:
Quote
hey comic con folks! great to see you people up in this piece!! Batman rocked today, looking forward to Penguins tomorrow! Take it easy on my boys Matt and David t
With an edit comment:
Quote
I don't know a David t., but I do know a David X.. At any rate, your support is the bomb, people. Be civil, homies!

This makes me make another suggestion for a question: how much has the Internet factored in the cancellations and revivals of Futurama? Has it helped a lot? Or is the Internet just a breeding ground for bad rumors?

However, you might want to not do a production-based question, as that'll probably be covered well and be a heated topic. Talking about future episodes make for more delightful conversation and banter.

I proposed one last year:
"In "Bender's Big Score", the timecode was in the Bender tattoo's left eye (viewer's perspective right). Is there another code in the Bender tattoo's right eye (viewer's perspective left)?"

Also protaining to "Bender's Big Score":
"What did Bender ever do with Herme's time-paradox duplicate head?"

And here's a few other ones:
"Fry's very invovled with time- he came from the past, he performed the nasty in the past-y, had the time code on his buttocks, and created a time-paradox duplicate. Leela's invovled with location- she's the Planet Express ship's captain and was once believed to be the only member of her species remaining. Do they represent time and space, also referred as Father Time and Mother Nature?"

"In "Into the Wild Green Yonder", the encyclopod leaves before replying to Fry's comment on how he only collects DNA of endangered species. Do you expect to follow up on this in a future episode?"

"Will the new season begin with the crew somewhere in the unknown universe and will the season be spent as a journey back home?"

"Could you have Bill Nye: The Science Guy guest star in the new run?"

Some of those questions are pretty trivial, you should think of questions for the Future of the show, that's really want we want to know.

I would actually be interested in what the new season is going to be like in its themes - whether they all start already back home with the minimalist of explanations or they spend the whole seasons drifting in space - almost like a large-cast version of the middle seasons of Red Dwarf. I doubt they'd tell us though. I don't know.

I'm kinda tempted to ask whether Matt and David are taking the renewal one season at a time and whether they consider every finale to potentially be the final ever episode. Because I'm honestly curious. However that's probably rather downbeat so probably best not to ask it.

I am also curious to the idea that a lot of loose ends were seemingly tied up in the last season and in the films - Leela's origins, Nibbler's identity (to everyone), Igner's origins, Fry and Leela's relationship, Amy and Kif's relationship etc - will they remain tied up and possibly will there be entirely new loose ends introduced; over-arching plot points, character traits and elements that have never been seen before? Maybe there are existing loose ends that still haven't been resolved?

Oh hell, it's too late anyway I guess. Hopefully there'll be a video soon.

Too late for what?  A response from Officer 1BDI?  I don't think the panel has started yet.  Isn't it 13:00 Pacific Time?

Oh yeah! Pacific Time! I was thinking everything was in EDT. Damn. That means there's another 2.5 hours until the panel and not another negative .5 hours. Maybe it'll be live on G4, and, if not, maybe it'll be online somewhere live.

HitFix is making a live blogging at the Chuck panel.  I assume that they are going to do such live blogging at other panels as well.

At one o'clock Pacific, G4 is broadcasting live from Comic-Con. According their website, they'll be providing viewers with "some of the most exciting news from the convention." I figure it's worth wasting an hour or two in front of my TV on the off-chance they give us some Futurama-related news.

Hopefully Futurama is one of the topics. I'd rather hear it live than wait til after the whole thing.

Not sure if this will work for those of you without a Twitter account, but here's a picture of Matt Groening on-stage at Comic-Con. From what I'm gleaning from the random tweets (ugh, I hate Twitter parlance), the cast definitely didn't show up on the panel. At least not yet.

I just searched for any posts (I will not use the word "tweets" again) pertaining to Futurama, on the assumption that right now, they're all about the Comic-Con panel.

Edit: Apparently, DXC and MG are reluctant to answer any questions about the contract dispute. Or at least that's what the random people on the internet say.

The whole publicity stunt/joke thing seems far fetched to me. Seems like it would be wayyyy more trouble than it's worth.

But anyway. The panel... I just remembered it was today--it's literally on now?

Yeah, Twitter says that the voice actors thing hasn't worked out, and doesn't go beyond that.

It also says Amy and Bender are getting in a relationship and Mom takes over Twitter and we learn Scruffy's origins....

I'm assuming these are the topics Matt and David are supposed to talk about, and when they get to the question-posing period there'll be more on the actors.
...I guess... I don't really know how these things work.

edit: Didn't Lamarr or someone say before that they were disinvited?

As I keep reading the updates I imagine this in my head: Matt and David X. on stage with everyone having sad/angry/bored faces.

That storyline with Amy and Bender sounds incredibly lame.

Not if DiMaggio and Lauren Tom did the voices. Somehow it would be interesting.

If the VA's don't come back, the characters will sound alike, but the energy will be different. The story lines, no matter how great, will always not have the same chemistry.

If Matt Greoning is giving out Family Guy stuff then I'm through with Fox and Futurama. Espesically if the VAs aren't coming back.
