With the news that the X-Files is on it's way out, perhaps Fox could use the open timeslot to move Futurama to the post-Simpsons timeslot and Malcom right after that?  Or even Futurama after Malcom which would keep it's normal timeslot.  They'd still have room for another half-hour program. (Maybe That 80's Show just to make Futurama look even better.   :D   :D   :D)  Granted, Fox will probably just move one of their hour-long programs in there since they wouldn't be able to figure out a way to preempt Futurama for football in that timeslot.

My Ideal schedule:
King of the Hill 6:00
Malcolm 6:30
Simpsons 7:00
Futurama 7:30

It makes Futurama all the more looking forward to.  :) That 80's show will probably make it into the weekdays (jinx  :D)

I don't mind when Fox put it so long as they treat it with the respect it deserves and isn't cancelled all the time due to sports, if it is treated well it will get good ratings I'm sure, then there will be more series  :)

I wish Channel 4 would put it at 9:30 on Fridays, that should be their animation slot, SP is already shown there but not all year. C4 should start again with the first episode and reshow them all uncut.

I agree with Nix on this one.  Remove the malignant shows and trim the fat.  By "malignant" I mean the Simpsons, a show that won't die and complete the cycle.  And by "fat" I mean the rest of the crap on that network.

I agree that Simpsons should gracefully bow out.  (Ok, maybe it's a bit too late for "gracefully.&quot ;)  I've stopped watching it and the one or two times when I decide to give it another chance it always disappoints me.  Still, I'd be happy with a Simpsons-Futurama Sunday night teamup.

The problem is the Simpsons will probably won't die in the short-term, as long as they keep pulling in more viewers than Futurama does, someone told me that Simpsons in Futurama timeslot had a better rating, so the execs are gonna look at these and make a descision that the Simpsons are still more popular, which given the way the two shows are treated in exect opposites to each other isn't really fair, but still, it's time to get those petitions out again gang.

There one mini-rant over and done with for the time being.

i think that Fox has too many shows on Sunday that they can handle. i mean, usually they dont start shows til 8pm. i think that on Sundays, they should put up a lineup like
8:Simpsons
8:30Futurama
9:MNTM
9:30:King of the Hill(even tho i dont like the show)
they have alot of crappy shows on durin the week too. why not take them off the air, and put a show on the weekdays?!?!

I hate to sound thick (too late  :)), but just what does Syndication mean, as I've always been confused by that word in relation to American TV shows.

When a show is "syndicated" the broadcast rights to certain episodes, seasons, or entire series are sold to stations around the country to broadcast at their discretion.  For example, in Michigan, UPN 50 shows the Simpsons and in Pittsburgh, WB 11 shows them.

Here's my idea of an ideal FOX lineup.

Weekdays:
5:30: King of the Hill
6 & 7: Simpsons
6:30: Futurama (re-run)
7:30: Seinfield

Also, screw the Tick and have Futurama be after Family Guy. A new Futurama. So now, FOX can put another pathetic show they don't want there. And Futurama wasn't pathetic to begin with. That's why they put it at 8:30. Then they screwed it and... eh, you know the rest.

UPN 50 shows The Simpsons? I get channel 50 for UPN in my region, so I hope we're talking about the same place here.

Welcome FuturamaBum! Speaking of avatars, I hope that one's permanent, Paul!

Unfortunately I believe shows need to have 100 eps before they go into syndication.

My line-up would be:

8:00 The Simpsons
8:30 Futurama
9:00 Malcom
9:30 Reserved for new shows

My (Kick Ass) Line Up:

10:00am - 8:00pm The Simpsons
8:00pm - 2am Futurama
2am - 6am Shitty reality shows
6am - 10:00am - MITM, KOTH, Darkwing Duck and other animated shows.

How cool would that be!

Welcome to PEEL, spliced and Futuramabum. I hope you'll enjoy it here. Nice bewitching avatar, Futuramabum.    ;)

Favourite lineup:

7.00 pm: Dilbert
7.30 pm: The Critic
8.00 pm: Simpsons (from the first 9 seasons)
8.30 pm: Futurama
9.00 pm: Futurama

THAT would be must-see-tv.

10 hours of Simpsons, Otis! I don't think that's healthy, in any sense of the word.    :laff: But I agree with you on Darkwing Duck, that is a great cartoon.

Thanks Teral. I'm mostly a lurker but I like to post here and there.

Good point Kryten. Newsradio is kind of like the Futurama of sitcoms, in that it's great but never got the ratings it deserved.

The "GOOD" news is that The X Files is finishing.
As well as that, Family guy is cancelled and so is The Tick. Ally McBeal might be on the way out and 24(unfortunately) might follow.
Also, the new sitcom 'The 80s Show' has been getting bad reviews so if no one likes it that will go too...
basically, Futurama scores ratings only half a mil or so less than King of the Hill so FOX basically can convince themselves that it's doing ok and to keep it there :(
Unfortunately I think FOX would want to keep the X Files slot for a drama or for something like the Chamber so our best hope for next season(I doubt they'll change it this season) is for Malcolm to move to the wednesday night slot that it's been frequenting recently and for Futurama to take it's place.
So I'd advise people to get everyone you know to watch any MITM showings on Wednesday to convince FOX to change.

Of course 24 is going to be cancelled.  The whole premise is that the entire series was one day.

I doubt The Chamber will be a big hit. Gameshows are so 2000, and reality shows are obviously going out too.

I think you're right though. Fox is going to want a drama for the 9-10 timeslot. 24 was going to be the big follow-up to the X-files, but it looks like that is failing. Hopefully fox will realize that all their shows suck, and they'll just move up Futurama's timeslot. But realistically, they'll just gay it up with Temptation Island 3 or two episodes of That 80's Show.

The bad news is you missed a great episode of The Tick.  (I'll admit a lot of them were pretty bad, but I was hanging in with the hopes that they'd get better.  How bittersweet that they get better right after they get canned.  :()

The good news is that this week is a new Tick too (the final one).  From Fox's site:  "Arthur breaks the news to his mom and sister, Bea and Dot, about his alternative lifestyle as a super hero!"  Let's hope it's a good one and the series goes out with a bang.

I'm pretty sure that I am the only person in America with any sense. 24 = no good? I'm afraid you guys are wrong, but I'm glad it's not doing too well so they don't bring it back for another "day." Fox is cancelling the Family Guy? Lame. Just as they cancel the Family Guy they bring in That 80s Show? I wonder if a jump out my second story window would be fatal. For chrissakes! Is Fox paying attention? The Bernie Mac Show? The Chamber? Titus? Temptation Island? (although it is a guilty pleasure of mine to watch those dorks once in a while) And I'm the smartest person I know.

China, let me put this mildly. There are 2 Shows That Will Not Die on the airwaves. One is good, one is bad. The good one is family Guy. The bad one is America's Funniest Home Videos.

And let's not forget some of the shows Fox will use to crush the Olympics:
When Animals Invade Your Home (vs. Olympics' figure-skating exhibition)
and
Glutton Bowl: The World's Greatest Eating Competition

About the only way I'd watch Glutton Bowl would be if it was a Nibbler vs. Zoidberg showdown.

Now that I think of it, it might make for a good bit... They both get a full banquet table -- Zoidy is told in advance that it's free so money woes don't slow him down -- who will finish the food first?   ;)
