Hi,

Gals and guys, a really simple, really urgent question.  Sal's manner of speaking - when-s he-s speaks like-s this, got-s it-s? - how is this accent commonly described?  (Like... redneckish - can it be called redneckish at all?)

I think it's just one of the amalgalm of NY accents that remains prevelent in NNY.  Kind of in the uneducated-but-street-smart realm.  There's probably a name for it, and an actualy locale of origin, but I don't know what.

I think it's best described as a New Jersey accent.

I'd call it a Brooklyn accent.  It's some derivative of a New York City accent at least, and is most definitely not a Jersey accent.
