This is probably the weirdest combination I can think of but....

I was just watching MTV (in the UK) and a new video came on, it's a cover of an old Genesis track "This is the world we live in". It's fairly catchy but really just a crappy poppy track. Where am I going with this you ask?
Well the group is called Alcazar. I thought to myself, where have I heard that name before. Then it dawned on me, it's the name of the shape shifting "cyclops" from the Futurama episode A Bicyclops Built For Two.

Coincidence? I think not. Does anyone know if the word Alcazar actually has any meaning of if they did indead nick it from our favourite show. I'd say they nicked it because they clearly have no originality the name of the album is, wait for it......Alcazarized   :laff:

Plus, the name of the shapeshifting sleazeball is Alkazar, so if they stole the name from Futurama they didn't do a very good job of it.

They may well be spelled AlKazar I wasn't paying much attention to the spelling.

There is an obscure C64 game called Alcazar: The Forgotten Fortress. It involves wandering aimlessly around a bunch of dungeons and killing stuff.

The Spanish fortress thing is probably where all three names come from - Alkazar (The shape-shifter) owned five huge castles, Alcazar (The game) is filled with the bloody things and Alcazar (The band)... well pop groups seem to pick random names that they think sound nice.

And in Tintin, there is general Alkazar.
