Would you forgive FOX if they brought back Futurama and demanded new episodes? Or if they demanded the trilogy?

EDIT: Damn you thread typo!

I wouldnt be totally mad at them anymore. If they hada change of heart and ordered new episodes of Futurama, I'd give them a new slate with which to impress me.

But if they do what happened last time again, it'd be a different story.

Do you mean cancel it again? Or the injustices due to scheduling?

I would know that I could die happy. But it's hard to forgive someone who has betrayed you so hard. They would have to do the following to make me happy:

1. Renew Futurama
2. With lots of episodes
3. Have it run for about 4 or 5 more seasons
4. Have Fry & Leela get married eventually
5. A full length movie

But like that'll ever happen! I'm gonna die a very sad person!

Four or Five? I would be happy with maybe another season, or a movie, or a mini-series. I guess Fox did more damage to some then to others.

And yes, pretty much everything on Fox is crap now. The Simpsons are making a quick ascension to mediocracity, and pretty much everything else is either a Reality TV show with an extremely bad premise and an even worst result or over the top completley unrealistic live action sit-coms also with strange and down right awful premises.

You know, just one more episode I would like. But that other stuff is a follow up if said episode happens.

FOX no longer owns the rights to Futurama; Cartoon Network does. If there is ever a movie, mini-series, or additonal seasons of Futurama, it will be to the credit of CN, not FOX.

And why are you blaming FOX for Futurama's cancelation? Don't blame them! Blame the people who watch TV. The only reason reality TV is aired so much is because it's WATCHED so much. If Futurama got as much appriciation from the masses as it does from us, it'd still be airing. But no! People'd rather watch Survivor (I'm aware Survivor isn't aired by FOX), so that's what they get.

Now, if I had great wads of cash, I'd personaly commision another season or so of Futurama if the liscencing issues could be worked out.

Not exactly dude. FOX owns the rights to the show. CN only has the rights to air it in syndicated reruns (as does TBS).

If CN did have the rights to the show, there'd be a much better possibility of new episodes.

*Bzzzt!*  Wrong.

Fox still owns the rights.  CN merely has the syndication rights, which means that they can show the re-runs, but they can't make new episodes.

Futurama may have been cancelled due to low ratings, but FOX did their best to make sure that it never got good ratings.  They put it in a poor timeslot, which meant that it was pre-empted by football more often than not, and they didn't really promote the show at all.  Make no mistake, FOX didn't want Futurama to get good ratings.  If they had, they would have just put it on right after The Simpsons.

That's not the only reason.  Reality shows are very cheap to produce (no actors or script writers to pay).  So, the ratings (and therefore the revenues from ad sales) of a reality show might not be as high as other shows, but the net profit to the network is higher, because its costs them less to air the show.

Well a movie is more or less, at least in the sense that Groening and Cohen want to do one, but that it would be up to Fox ultimately.

Anyways, I don't see any reason to forgive Fox.  They could ressurect every single show they've wrongly cancelled for all I care.  Fox News alone, and not to mention the Fox network itself basically spewing out so much crap for so long, are both reasons why I will never feel compelled to forgive Fox.  "Citizen" Rupert gets no forgiveness from me.

But then again I don't think particularly highly of any given network.  I just watch any good shows they might happen to have.  If they don't have any, I just don't watch.

I'm so glad that in australia we have 2 excellent tv stations.... SBS that shows heaps of world programs, including foreign films documentries and indie programs (Thank GOD for Fat Pizza), and the ABC which through funded by the government is still independent.
Shows usually get a huge cult following on the ABC, then move to commercial stations where they are watered down.. milked for money.. then cancelled... I also don't know where we'd be without Triple J radio. god bless this country! i think i'd choke if all i had the choice of watching is staged 'reality' tv.. yuck!
hell, even community television is fun. there's always tamara tonight to watch... transvestite tv..
rock on...

Fox can never be forgiven.  They are for the most part are responsible for the overall coarsening of TV in the US.  These are the same people that brought us "You want to Marry a Millionaire" and FOX News which seems determined to attack and trash any other media outlet as "pointlyheaded liberals" they don't like or disagree with.

That's true. Fox certainly isn't a credit to TV in general. Fox will give pretty much anything a chance as long as it is profitable.

Why the fuck do all the retards on this board hate FOX so much? "Oh, they abandoned the show blah blah". They were the ones who picked up Futurama in the first place. They gave us FOUR seasons. Some networks may not have even given it anything over 1. So seriously, get a grip.

I hate fox because of low quality programs. We shouldn't love Fox just because it hosted the show for a little while. It also took it away. It gave us a good thing and a bad thing which cancels each other out. It would be more hypocritical for everyone to love everything about fox just because of a show it USED to air.

Best saying I ever heard...

Pretty much Futurama is dead in FOX's eyes if you want Futurama to come back it has have even greater sales than Family Guy did (DVD Sales), win the 2 emmy's eventhough Emmy nomination and wins hardly ever bring shows back, and finally the show has to have continue to have consistantly strong ratings on CN to even have a chance to come back.

I don't like FOX because I think most of their reality shows are cruel, even by reality show standards. Thay usually involve baiting people with large sums of money to do horrible things, only at the end to reveal "Surprise! We lied! Looks like you endured all of that crap for nothing! But people will be entertained!" Although I don't pay much attention to their programs I've seen two examples of this (Joe Millionare and Trading Spouses). What assholes.

I'd never forgive them. Chances are the episodes wouldn't be as good if they brought it back, because they wouldn't be able to get the exact same team assembled to make them. This would result in a different feel to the show, and a likely "something’s missing" element...

Add to that the wasted years between the cancellation and the so-called “new eps”, and you have a couple of years in which full seasons could have been made, but are totally lost never to be seen...

And of course, Fox are bastards anyway...

Unfortunately bad TV appeals to the lowest common denominator, and most people in my experience enjoy that (if they themselves are not a part of that).

Kinda like my mom, she's a smart cookie and has a good sense of humour, but she likes a lot of those stupid asinine shows that make me grit my teeth.

Well, just take the reason why people watch TV*:
Many want some mindless entertainment after a tiring day. Then you know that more than half of any country's population are idiots (just go to imdb.com and read the forums), a quarter are brain-dead and some even prefer Pepsi to Coke. It all becomes obvious. After some time, I realized there is "Watch TV" and "Watch a movie/specific program".
I am afriad Futurama was doomed to this end ever since it was announced as a Sci-Fi spoof show with many references.
Take a random quote:
"Snowwhite and the Seven Red Dwarfs". First try to explain what is a space Dwarf, then what is a Red Dwarf®.

*: Which is the same why Britney Spears is so popular, why N'synx members are still alive, why Futurama was cancelled and why dogs smell your... Okay, not that part.

Ha! I read up on Red Dwarfs in the Fourth grade by myself.

I have read some articles about how TV is mostley supposed to appeal to people of lower intelligences. You can tell how intelligent they think their audience is by how long it's in syndication. Channels like Nickelodeon rerun their seasons multiple times and rarely ever demand new seasons at all. They just make timeslots for another new show instead. This is a common practice to save money. They will do this any chance they get. Most TV gives it's viewers so little credit.
