C4 will begin showing the fourth season of futurama tonight (friday) at 1:10am :rolleyes:. its a double bill, too.

Well, at least it has a better time slot than King of the Hill...  :rolleyes:

Anyway, Sky aired "Season 4" two years ago, and I've now got the DVDs.  C4 could show it at 4am for all I care.  :evillaugh:

Unlike most UKers, I'll be awake at 1.10am.  Sadly, I'll be at work.  By god, I'm glad I've got every episode on DVD.

can you believe that C4 have actually got the rights to show the simpsons now, aswell. christ knows where they'll bury that in the scheduals. :rolleyes:

if theye got the simpons and Futurama there twats, cus theyll put it on a stupid times, the should put a simpson and a futurama on every night just after simpsons is on BBC2 loads of people would watch it. Theyll probably put it on 5am knowing them.

I don't know why BBC didn't try harder to get the newer episodes of the Simpsons, especially when you consider what rubbish shows and productions they do waste their money on. I do think though that it's a great shame Futurama wasn't on BBC, and preferably at a sensible time. I think it would have an even bigger following here in the UK then. I agree, though, it's great to have all the episodes on DVD, at least then you can watch them, when you want and you get the audio commentaries, no stupid adds and no morons talking over the end titles!

Would I be correct in saying that this is "Mc"Season 4 being shown?

I think BBC didn't try to get newer episodes of the Simpsons, becasue they have the sense to realise that the new episodes ARE SHIT!
Well at least it's on a friday night, if it was in the middle of the week it would be worse! Last time they had Futurama on C4 that I remember it was on at 7 in the morning, which was good because I could watch it before I got out of bed, but then I can do that now with the DVD's. Oh well.

Anyway, I really don't care, because I've got all the DVD's already. I would care if it was on at a time when it could grab potential new fans, but at that stupid time it won't be doing anything...

I heard that Channel 4 paid an awful lot of money for the rights to show The Simpsons, and that the reason they recently ended Brookside was to create a slot for the show when they get the rights to it. Would be great if they start using the Futurama license well and show a Matt Groening double bill. I know Futurama would do better if it was next to a Simpsons episode.

Good idea there Kazzahdrane! I would certainly love an hour of Matt myself and I think that the poularity of The Simpsons (be it Scully crap or not) would ensure more people watching Futurama.

looking at teletext the two episodes are Roswell that ends well and a tale of two santas however it also states the latter to be the last in the series ???  :confused:

channel 4 really has treated futurama badly - began at a 630 timeslot and was cut then moved to the back from the pub slot on friday nights - i think the last "run" was interupted by BIG Brother IV - still its a good line up if your awake, south park, KOTH and futurama, all you need now is family guy

Just think how many problems past and future would've been solved if the BBC had not made that Iraq war documentary and spent the money on keeping the rights to the Simpsons...

NOW they're showing season 4?  It's a bit late (and I don't mean the timeslot, although it's not much better)

Anyone who likes Futurama will have bought the boxset already.

It should be on at teatime though.  Loads of people watch the Simpsons on BBC2, probably more than people watch it on Sky

McSeason 4 is now being showed on C4, however the second in their double bill (A Tale Of Two Santas) said last in series (season).

I assume you bought a dubbed in to Welsh version of the DVD  :p

It is good that C4 is showing Futurama again, although given the time slot I suspect they are only doing so because they've already paid for it  :hmpf:

They did, and were hugely outbid by C4. Since Sky One get to show new episodes first, that's put a high price on those episodes for terrestrial. BBC 2 had that monopoly for a while but because the Simpsons is BBC2's highest rated show (even just the repeats!) C4 wanted it badly (more viewers=more advertising revenue). I think they are paying about a million pounds per episode because they were fighting so hard for it. To be honest, that money could be better spent on other programmes which, regardless of whether the new Simpsons is crap or not, are better for the BBC. Relying on popular American imports doesn't do much good for our own TV industry, especially when we are spending that much money on them.

I live in hong kong at the moment, originaly from the U.K, theirs this channel called Star World and it doesn't change series ever on the Simpsons, it just plays the same series over and over again every year :mad:. It rarely has futurama on, and when it is - they play season 1. Thank god i have the DVD's.    :)

That's incredible, and a little disturbing, especially when you consider that, popular opinion has it, each 'Futurama' episode cost $1 million US.

Channel 4 could have paid to have a new series of 'Futurama' produced for less money than they paid for 'Simpsons'.

Okay, they didn't do that because they know 'Simpsons' is a guaranteed ratings winner, but if only they had given 'Futurama' some decent promotion, and a good and consistent time slot, it would have been different I bet.

 Like i said on another thread, they will probably move the Simspons to C5 in a couple of months after the early morning slots.
