@RS 2thou: Thanks, ive only recently been doing the background, and i think the scanns look a lot better with them. The more detail the better! I still have most of my scans saved as photoshop files, so if need be i take the backgrounds out aswell. Also, thanks for the potm nom!

@Benders_fan: It never ceases to amaze me how much time i waste doing this!

@TriggerHappyJim: I swear im never going to bother doing a scan with something like that in it again! Stupid flowers...so time consuming. Your good with ideas, what should i do next?

@FF: Like the thread title, i actually put my phone in my scanner haha, and it didn't pick up the colour on the phone screen. Normally it's in full colour like the copy on my photobucket site linked in that post. teh <3 indeed!

Hmmmm, i have been doing quite a few shippy scans lately, so i think i'll just do a general/funny one next. I'll put that Bender one in the maybe pile, and when i get home i'll have a look at what episodes i have on my computer, because i can always get a good quality grab that way. One from my three suns perhaps.

Edit: Oh, i just remembered my idea from the other night. If i can find i good grab, or if i have time to download the ep, i want to do amy saying "sack of horrors!" from Xmas Story.

I never said the Bender one was simplistic, in fact im almost certainly going to do a shot from that scene at some stage, its heaps cool! "A hush comes over the crowd...the only sound is Bender calling everyone else a jerk as he swings!" Good Humour.

but seriously, could you do one from Love and Rocket? perhaps the one on your cellphone. That'd be sweet. If you did a scan of an "aww" moment between fry and leela in that episode that'd be awesome. i'd make it my desktop

Z0mg! An actual update! I've been inundated with work recently and it's only just been receeding slightly. I had some time tonight and got to work on finishing that Bender scan that i said i would finish almost a month ago

Here's what i've done so far:


I tried some shading up the top on that purple thing and a few more gradients on that pipe in the corner. I should get it finished tomorrow arvo (Says me).

Anyway, sorry about the long wait and i'll try and get some new ones done, especially since the holidays are fast approaching and i'll have a lot more free time.

A scan is where you enlarge a framegrab, and using a program like photoshop, redraw the outline, then re-colour the whole thing to end up with a high quality copy of the grab. Some can be difficult or relativly easy, it just depends on how good you want to make it. Scans are good for Avy making, wallpapers and generally nice to look at!

It turned out kind of crappy, but i'm now using different scanning methods and thinner lines, so stay tuned.

Today I also started making a wallpaper. (My first ever) and I've got the very basic outline done:



It will all be cleaned up and coloured along with the background, I just havent drawn it all in yet. Hopefully this will turn out alright and if i get a good response I may even make more. Not sure when it will be done (I don't have infinite time on my hands like the better scan artists seem to do (THJ for example))

Just check back every now and then and you never know, I may actually have done something!

It looks great now its fully coloured. The lines are a bit - for want of a better word - jerky, but your colouring is amazing! I love the reflections in alternative Bender.

That wallpaper looks fantastic! And you chose a really good grab to wallpaper!

They gave me HELL! The final ones were a mixture of brush strokes, cut out bits, the old scan layer showing through etc. They made it take so long! I just couldn't for the life of me get them looking anything like they were mean't to.

Anyway...

What I mean is whenever your in a Conversation. You allways have a link to some site thats revalent. Where the hell to you get them? Do you spend all day on the internet looking for sites to post up?
