Since Star Trek talk seems to be taking over the Non-reviewy movie thread, I figured it should get it's own thread.

    Yeah...

    So....

How would you rank the Trek movies, best to worst? I'd do it like this...

    • Wrath of Khan
    • First Contact
    • The Voyage Home
    • The Undiscovered Country
    • The Search for Spock
    • Generations
    • Insurrection
    • Final Frontier
    • The One with V'Ger

Durand, shut up.  Seriously, just shut up.

Anyway, my list would probably go:
      First Contact
      The Voyage Home
      The Undiscovered Country (I
think that's 6)
Generations
Wrath of Khan
Search for Spock
Insurrection
The Motion Picture
The Final Frontier (or 5, if I've got the names mixed up)
First contact was a great movie yeah, but i mainly like the shows. Star Trek was Great! ST the Next Gen was good, it was a good improvment on the Original.
Deep space 9 i find is more of a drama type show, it worked great though..

Voyager, was a complete change from Star trek The Original Series..

Ex.
Kirk - Quick kill it and lets get the hell out of here, attitude.

Janeway - Just because its trying to kill us doesnt mean we cant be friends, attitude...

Still voyager was a great show, oh and the best series fanale ever! i loved it

With the exception of the original series, all the Star Trek series have had, in my humble opinion, incredible finales.  Seriously, all three were great!

I dunno... I watched like all the TNG eps they showed here as that was the series i liked the most ...
I sometimes like to watch the classic series when its rerun and i come across it, but nothing beats TNG (mainly cause of Data).
All the movies kinda bored me though. I haven't seen the last one and i hear it was great, but they also said First Contact was great and i didn't think it was much better than the series themselve.

And yeah, TNG final was great, havent seen any other ST final though as DS9 bored me to hell with its religious theme (no, not even teh defiant was able to make it a good show for me) and voyager i stoped watching at some point too.

Y'see, with me it was almost completely different.  W/ TNG, I didn't really watch the first 3 seasons the first time around - of course, I was a bit young then.  And Voyager I really didn't start to watch until about the 4th season.  DS9 I watched the whole way through.

Ick.... that was the most disappointing finale I've ever seen. Compare it with the Buffy finale. Now, THAT is how a series should end.
(Of course, there's at least one more season to go, buit still, that's how the show should go out.)

tng was the best series ever!!!
just remember what happend in that series, from the klingons (we had a better look on them) to the marquis....it all started here.
ds9 was good since season 4 or 5...the final was good, everyone had a different life to live. jadzia dax death was really a shock, poor worf (of tng-fame)...odo returned to his people to save them, sisko became a god??? the religion-part seems sometimes a little odd but it made sense in a way. i asked myself where is the enterprise-crew in that war with the dominion?
voyager......i dunno. i never really liked one of the characters. the best part in voyager were the borg episodes. i like the borgs!!!!!! (again of tng-fame) i havent seen the final yet but i guess it is not so bad.
the original series is great fun....kirk (zapp brannigan) flirts with every kind of women, spocks logic-abilities, bones, uhura, scottie.....they were great but i love tng much ,much more!!!!!

the best movie from the classic-crew is in my opinon the fist one because it stands for itself. all the characters meet again after years.

Ahh! Don't spoil it for me - 6 days for us to go to the Buffy Finale here... Last night was the 2nd last one, and they're all building it up with the whole Dawn/Glory thing. I can't wait to see what happens!
And another season! I hope so!!  :D

So anyway . . .

Some of my favorite DS9's were the parallel universe ones.  I mean, if you ever thought that DS9 could not possibly get any darker . . .

And some of the evil "twins" were REALLY cool - I'm thinking of Intendant Kira and General (or whatever he was) Worf.

    NEWS FLASH

Just saw a new commercial for Enterprise.  I only really took notice of two things:

A woman taking off her shirt
      The guy who was in
Quantum Leap is presumably going to play Robert April or Christopher Pike.
Actually, the character's name is Captain Jonathan (I think) Archer. This'll basically put continuity in a blender, but who cares? It looks cool.

Whoa...I am now officially a Trekkie.

Ok, not really...but I find this creative decision behind the new show to be semi-interesting: what's the deal with the Klingon make-up?  Will they look like their original forms, or will the writers screw continuity up the pooper and give them the more well-known weird foreheads?

I guess I shouldn't even be talking since I don't watch Trek, but I think it would be pretty dumb if they go with the Original Series look. Having an official explanation for the differing appearances is one of the lamest things I've ever heard, actually. They should just accept the fact that the original show was filmed in the 60's and had a lower budget and crappier make-up/effects. Audiences have imaginations too...you don't have to explain every little budget-related inconsistency.

You'd be surprised, a friend of mine bores me to tears whining about discontinuity in Voyager and he directed my to some newsgroups which scared the hell out of me. It scares me that people can get so obsessed with the detail, as if it were actually real! Just enjoy it, goddammit! Don't get me started on the immense 'who would win in a fight between Star Wars and Star Trek' (shudder)

      good point fishyjoe!!!
i am also curious about the klingon-look. the different look was kinda a "running gag" in the next gen. series....they never came up with an explanation. so i agree the classic trek series was crapy 60's style nowadays they have much more money and much better fx...so who cares about an explanation (there was this rumour that the klingons had made genetic experiments that changed their look but it is just a rumour).
anyway in an other forum i posted about the look...will "enterprise" have the same crappy look...the answer must be no, because we are now in the year 2001 and not in the 1960's but the series takes place about 100 years before kirk and co...how will the new starshipstyle be (remember the look of ncc1701 and the look of ncc1701a)...we will see.

Actually, the rumor goes that the Suliban (main evil species in Enterprise, getting information from someone in the future, and with the ability to change their squeletal structure) will alter the klingons, so by the end of Enterprise as a series they will have the TOS look, and that look won't be reversed until the klingon DNA is purged 200 years since. Of course, considering how much did they plan ahead for VOY, I doubt they would have anything but 10 episodes for Enterprise planned, much less the series finale (unless they're going DS9 -- DS9 planned ahead a lot... "The Sisko is from Bajor, but he'll find no peace there. His pagh will follow another path&quot ;).

but thta is what i meant with the look...the original enterprise-series didn't have that "futuristic-look" and now there is this new series in the past and the "old" ship looks alot better than the "new" one.
hmmmmmm.........as i said before now it's 2001 and not the 60's of the gone century!

      On Klingons:

Just wanted to bring this up - in DS9's Trials and Tribblations, Odo askes Worf what happened to the Klingons.  He replies, "We don't like to talk about it."  Not sure if it adds anything, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Ohh Thanks but I had read already about the Watcher series in a magazine.. Sounds like what they did with Angel (but at the series end of Angel last night Willow appeared and Angel knew something happened to Buffy - sad)

But HOW will they bring back Buffy from the dead, eh? How? How??

I was talking to my friends at uni today about last nights episode. Maybe Willow will bring her back, or maybe she's a vampire and doesn't die or something.. Who knows, just throwing around ideas..

Nix: When the Borg first showed up on TNG, they were this mysterious, unstoppable, mindless engine of destruction. People used to wet themselves at the mere mention of their name.

Then Voyager wimpified them. On TNG, one cube was able to destroy a good chunk of the fleet. On Voyager, they can't stand up to one little ship.

And the bounty hunter guys were the Breen. I loved how these guys just show up and start kicking ass and nobody knows anything about them....
