Finally got Smackdown:HCTP today....first impressions very good, a lot of work gone into fixing the annoying things in previous games....
Not sure if I like the new grappling system yet but it seems ok....and BLOOD finally....  :evillaugh:

For those of you who really like to talk about wrestling, like we do here. I suggest you all check out www.thehonkytonkman.com

They just re-opened. Lots of great discussion.

I didn't really like the direction they took RAW in last night, with Austin coming back and all. It seemed like the went for months building up to some big climax but ended up right back where they started. If they arn't going to deliver some storylines that go somewhere, I wish they'd at least give us matchs that last more than 5 minutes.

Yeah, I'm a little upset with the product right now.

But rumor has it that in the new year Vince only wants to focus on future talent. So that may mean plenty of big pushes for the people who deserve it.  :D

Sounds good. I hope some deserving guys get the push, especially certian cruiserweights. Hopfully Cena will get a chance to hold the title too, because he deserves it.

Cena I hope will be given a run with the US title. The title has only been around a few months and already it's lost it's value around the waste (play on words!) of the big show.

There is a perfect division there. Kanyon, Cena, Orlando, Scotty 2 Hotty and even Doug Basham(who is under rated I think) are perfect contenders for the title. But sadly, a lot of these guys are looking to be let go in the new year. As rumors fly that layoffs will be coming in 2004!

HA HA HA! I love your sig Coop. Seems you've done a complete 180 on Steve Corino eh?

I personally think Cena is ready for a WWE title run, but to each his own I guess. It's beginning to seem that Vince has lost touch with the fans and is just doing whatever he wants. Big Show gets boo'd out of the arena even when he's a face, and yet Vince continues to push him to the moon. IMO he is the type of guy who should be on velocity every week rather than some of the A-grade talent that they stick on it.

Big show should become a jobber. He is definitely not world title Calibur.

And I think Cena would make a great champion as well, but I also think that the US title really needs to mean something right now. The US and Intercontinental title are what I like to call "Enhancement Titles." They are meant to give superstars that extra boost they need to reach world title status. But on the big show it means nothing! Thats why I think John Cena neess to get it going. Then they can start giving it to guys like Rhyno or Kanyon or whoever. The titles are becoming meaningless.

Have you noticed that it's been 2 weeks since the Bashams(tag champs!) have even been on TV?

And yeah, I really have taken a total switch on Corino. I like the guy a lot now that I have seen his work in Japan. He is awesome.

I was going to post this in the vid game thread but only a few people will care.... :p

I've been playing SD:HCTP over the last few days with my brother and now that we've gotten used to it, it rocks....!
Falling off the cell never looked better  :laff:
One thing I don't like though is after creating a wrestler, you have to take them through season mode to gain ex. points....I'm sick of my guy taking a pounding, oh well....

Great new moves, no commentary, sweet new grappling system and once again BLOOOOOODDD  :evillaugh:

Man this should go in the review thread.... :D

Words are not enough to express my distaste in the fact that CAWs are super weak. I hate it.

And i'm sorry, but the attribute points play TOO BIG OF A ROLL in this game and it pisses me off. I should be able to beat Brock Lesner with HBK but I can't and never will.

And Coop your new sig rules....I've always liked Steve Corino, to me he was one of those guys I liked from the first time I saw him, whether he was a good guy or bad guy....

Thanks. I never really cared for him much until I realized how much he and I have in common. For instance, we both love Dusty Rhodes.

His style is a little slower than other people, which is acctually kind of refreshing. In this day and age, everybody seems to be doing the same things. Every body wants to be a high a flyer and do all these dangerous moves.

By the way, do you know what his probation is all about? He forged his girlfriends signiture on some checks?

Yeah, Hillbilly  Jim was one of the only ones they could get. Warrior wanted too much money and Hogan just didn't want to be in.

Though if Hogan was in, Jim would have made more sense.

Coop,
Just responding to you're comments in the DVD collection thread, about your DVD player not being able to play FMW DVD's. You can get region 1 versions here: http://www.highspots.com  . I'm going to order some if the value of the Canadian keeps going up.

uh... yes you fucking dumb ass. Of course we know it's fake. I've got a news flash for you, SO IS EVERY GOD DAMNED SHOW YOU WATCH ON TV!

Wrestling isn't supposed to be appreciated because two guys are pounding the crap out of each other, it's not intended to be real. It's a show, just like anything you see on TV. Its two men (or women) risking life and limb to create a believable show for people. Its entertainment, its athletic ability, its good performance (most of the time), it's got everything a normal show doesn't have. It's the absolute greatest type of entertainment in the world and I'm not ashamed to say that I livefor it. WWE may not be the best but there are alternative programs out there.

NWA TNA is a great source for wrestling at it's purest. It's a great place to see wrestling as it really should be.

But you don't care about that do you? You just came here to be a little fucking prick and talk down to everybody because they think differently from you.

Well I got something for you buddy, FUCK YOU! No one asked you to post here. No one asked you to like wrestling; this is a thread where wrestling fans can discuss wrestling. And I, for one am sick of jerk offs like you trying to take that away from us. We never did anything to you, we just like something different from you, that’s all and we just want a place to talk about it. And this is the TV thread so that is our right.

We wrestling fans are not bad people, we are normal human beings like everyone else and I am fucking tired of being persecuted and antagonized.

There are people who jack off to midgets and mutilate puppies and rape people AND WE'RE NOT ALOUD TO HAVE THIS? There are so many worse things out there. You can go to hell Nagrub. I don't care what you think and I doubt anyone else here does either.

Take your negative attitude someplace else and leave us decent people alone, you bastard.

And to everyone else, I just want to say something. Please don't let guys like this push you around and make you feel bad for being different. Being different doesn't make you less than anyone else. People like Nagrub are just too closed minded to understand people who think differently from him, and he probably doesn't care. It's because of this that people like him won't make many friends in life.

Word life \mm/  :D

It's not overkill. He's just 1 of 1000 of people who seem to think that it's funny to just make fun of us wrestling fans. And he's not even mature about it. He's just like "You know its fake...right?" And of course we know its fake, no one in this thread claimed otherwise.

It's like someone finding the LOTR thread and posting "You guys know that there really isn't a middle earth, right?"

If he doesn't like it, he doesn't have to post here.

Earlier today on The honky tonk man web site. We discussed dream matches.

My all time greatest dream match is Hulk Hogan vs Dusty Rhodes. I know thats a corny match I just would have loved to see it.

I wrote the match out (long, but really good)for anyone interested in reading it.
 http://www.thehonkytonkman.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=444

Anyone here have any dream matches they would like to see? (i'm sure I have askedb before)

I would love to see Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle. they both have farily scientific wrestling styles, both have had gmmicks where they are a represenitive of their respective country (Think U.S. vs. Canada) and both are former world champions.

I was at a WWE house show yesterday afternoon, it was pretty good. That's the second time they've come out here in the sticks in a year now. Must be bacause the fans are useally really good in Newfoundland (Those marks really get into the show).

Oh and Steven Richards went over Test, which is awesome.

Wow Newhook, that is awsome! I have always wanted to go to a WWE live event! Where were you seated? did you bring a cool sign? Anyone miss any spots during the show?

I'm so totally excited for you, that must have been great.

But anyway, I think that Steve Richards is finally going to be getting the push he deserves. He is a great talent.

I liked Stevie as his role of Raven's lackey, but since then, he hasn't done a lot to impress me. The RTC was depushed as a joke, and the remainder of his WWF run hasn't really excited me.

I was seated in the stands, they where good seats. I could see everything, but they wern't so far back that the wrestlers looked microscopic.

I had a sign that said "Stevie Night Heat" on one side and "St. John's is Jerico" on the other side. I didn't hold it up much though because the guy behind me kept bitching at me (It's not like I held it up during matchs or anything, only when Richards was on the turn buckle looking at the crowd, and when Y2J made his entrance).

And there wren't any big missed spots, Val Venus looked like he may have hurt his ankle at one point (Lance Storm had to help him get up on the turnbuckle after they won their match), but he was able to walk to the back himself so it probably wasn't anything major.

*Edit* Oh, and why don't you ever goto house shows Coop? Is it because they never come to your area, or because you can never get tickets?
Coop

Nah, they come to the Austin area ALL the time. But being a 15 year old with a limited income, I can't afford the luxury.

Personally, I'm waiting for a RAW or a Smackdown to come around again.

I'm glad that Stevie is getting on the card at least. Has anyone heard the rumors about Cena moving to RAW? With Goldberg not expected to stay after Wrestlemania, they will need a top face.

I'm hoping that Wrestlemania will bring about the end of the brand extension. I think that the reason we don't have many new champions on RAW is because there is no world calibur talent. Smackdown has all of the big boys.

Or he's going to leave after WrestleMania. I guess that's kinda like returning.

Oh, and good riddance to him, too. I don't care about all his bitching about how the WWF is treating him. When his psuedo-sport needed him (for the WCW Invasion in 2001), he shirked his responsibilty. If Goldberg was active then, I doubt the angle would have died a firey death. The same thing goes for all those old guys from WCW. Kevin Nash, I'm looking at you!

Ye must wait, wait until after the credits, let them finish.

The only object of season mode is to unlock new stories, get more money and get more experience for your wrestlers or CAWs.

As for the legend's music, that is a mystery to everyone. I don't think they tried very hard on the legends. They should have given them REAL entrances and REAL music. It was a cheat without it.

I finally got my tapes in the mail yesterday. The "Best of Dusty Rhodes" tape is HARDLY the "best" of Dusty. They don't even have his legendary match with Ric Flair in a cage(my favorite match of all time)!

I feel a little cheated, but at least they put his stuff as the midnight rider.    :D

Also got "the best of Steve Corino in Japan" which looks more like "whatever Corino footage we had lying around"   :(

Coop, Gleno & Newhook OWN the WWE thread.
