Anyone else watching this? Started in the US on Adult Swim on the 2nd December, it's pretty neat so far. :D

In case you haven't seen it, here's the pilot episode.

Anyway, really like this show so far. It has a great comedy style to it and the show keeps a good balance of being really weird, but still grounded to reality, which is rare for an Adult Swim show. Also, Rick is just amazing whenever he talks.

I really, really like it so far. You can definitely see Dan Harmon's influence in the writing, and the episodes I've seen have all been hilarious. :)

This is absolutely fantastic stuff. The disappointment is that there are only three episodes, and something like this is unlikely to get a second season (look at the viewing figures, and tell me it'll be renewed. Go on).

This show has me doodling some of the gadgets (including the car) in the margins of my inorganic chemistry revision notes, and wishing I was taking some sort of module in Mad Science for Undergraduates. It's the most fun I've had watching animation since Futurama's initial series finale (another reason it won't be renewed: nothing that I like this much ever is).

I really want a flying saucer car.

I also really want to live in a world where it's possible to whip up a shrink ray or a dream-invasion thingy, or an animal intelligence enhancer in one's garage.

I'd settle for a flying saucer car though.

I dunno, Adult Swim don't always seem to cancel/renew based on ratings alone. I can't imagine their average show ratings are all that high to begin with, either.

I definitely hope they give it a chance, but I guess we'll see. :hmpf:

According to Wikipedia there are 11 complete episodes, and episode 4 is set to air January 13th. So I don't know about a second season, but there's at least a good amount more of this one.

The same number of episodes as Firefly. That's not exactly an auspicious sign...

I watched the pilot episode of this show today. I liked it, and will continue to watch the series. It's been a while since a new cartoon that I actually like has come along...

So far Episode 2 has been my favourite; had two completely separate plots that were both great & both tied together nicely. Rick is just hilarious.

I saw the pilot a short while ago and I thought it was fairly shite.

Also, Rick's voice-acting is just terrible.

I was thinking the same thing, actually. Alot of the voice acting for the show really sucks.

As for the show, it's meh. Not a super big fan of it or anything.

If this was a internet series or something, I'd be more forgiving when it comes to voice acting. But considering it's an animated series airing on TV, the voice acting was balls though. It sounded like a high school project or something.

I don't hate it, not at all. Just, not my type of show I guess. Although I will give it props for having animation like The Venture Bros. Or at least something about it just screams Venture Bros in my head. Wait, why am I talking about Venture Bros? I don't watch that show.....

Whatchoo talkin' 'bout? The voice acting's awesome! Rick sounds like Justin Roiland is trying to do a drunken Dan Harmon. My only gripe with Rick is that I wish he'd burp less - it gets a little old when he does it too often.

It sounds like a kid doing an impression of an old man. I want old men characters to actually sound like they could be old men.

It also sounds more like a party trick impression than an actual fully-formed character.

And the acting, itself, was very poor.

You think Rick and Morty's voice acting is bad?

Look at the Lucas Bros. Moving Co., robotic...
The animation for Lucas Bros. Moving Co. reminds me of The Problem Solvers, which adds insult to injury.

I think the only way to consider it bad voice acting is if you simply don't find it funny. Which is totally fair, I suppose.

To me, however, 90% of the humor of this show comes from the voices and delivery of lines by the two main characters, which I personally find completely hilarious. So to each their own.

I think some people are just exceedingly critical of voice acting due to the immensely high standards set by Paddy the Pelican.

And then we're gonna go on even MORE adventures after that, Morty. And you're gonna keep your MOUTH SHUT about it, Morty...

But if you stick with me, I'm gonna accomplish great things, Morty, and you're gonna be part of 'em.

And together we're gonna run around, Morty, we're gonna... do all kinds of wonderful things, Morty. Just you and me, Morty. The outside world is our enemy, Morty... we're the only.... friends we've got, Morty!

That was a great episode, all the people in the simulation lagging-up and stuff was hilarious and there were a lot of great gags. "Baker Street" made me laugh both times it was used, more so when Rick sang along to it. :D

I'd actually be inclined to agree on that one. The majority of the laughs for this episode came from the various ways the simulation kept "glitching," but every scene with Jerry was pure gold.

It's definitely got shades of Futurama, albeit a much darker/more adult-oriented take on it, and without the emotional elements. There's undoubtedly some Back to the Future in there, too.
