Emmy nominations were released.Biggest surprises: - WHAT THE FUCK?!?! How does Family Guy get nominated for Best Comedy Series? Moreover, how's it get nominated for that without being nominated for Best Animated Series?
- No much love for Boston Legal, Battlestar Galactica, Psych, Burn Notice, or Eureka.
Biggest yays: - Christian Clemenson being nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
- Tina Fey being nominated for Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for Sarah Palin.

I was watching a show called River Monsters tonight. This particular episode was about the Red-Bellied Pirahna Pirhana Pirana Chompyfish, and the host retold a story from a beach where eight people got nipped pretty severely by the afore-misspelled fish. It was a pretty boring show, but the reenactment sequence of the beach attack was duplicated almost shot-for-shot from the Alex Kitner attack in Jaws. That was pretty badass.

Oh, I'm still retroactively pissed that The Simpsons--you know, the show that made stuff like Family Guy even possible--was never judged as a comedy series, as opposed to an animated one (back in, like, seasons three and four). I think the producers used to try submitting it as the former, but they were largely ignored and ridiculed and whatnot (I seem to recall Al Jean mentioning it in some of the commentaries).

Once again we will witness how Australian TV and humour does not translate into American viewing.... it will turn out to be cheesy and cliche.

I was watching episodes of Freaks and Geeks on YouTube today. I remember seeing repeats on, like, FOX Family when I was about 10 years old, and my older brother (who, age-wise, was closer to the demographic at the time than I was) liked it a lot. I must admit, it's a pretty great show (though nowhere near as brilliant as people like to make it out to be). Still, I'd consider buying the boxset, if Amazon chose to sell it for a slightly more reasonable price.

Okay, okay--I'll grant you the hilarity, and the realism, and the awesome writing, and the complex characters, and the great acting. But, uh, I'm simply following the example set forth by the characters, by choosing not to conform. I mean conform to the belief that it is the most brilliant TV show everzzz. I generally find universal praise for cult classics (*prepares to be flamed* Arrested Development comes to mind) obnoxious and ultimately a set-up for a big letdown. Take it as a compliment that the letdown for Freaks and Geeks was pretty minute.

Just finished season 4 of The Wire. Good season, but a little odd, didn't really seem to build to a major climax, seemed more to be setting up season 5, what with McNulty finally returning to Major Crimes, he better be in season 5 more than he was season 4! That was bullshit! This season was good for all the links between characters, really cool to see certain people in the same scenes and realised that it's the first time they've met, or when Prez runs into carver at the end. But again: Bodie! :'( I really liked Bodie, even though he killed wallace, i thought he was a nice guy. McNulty must feel like shit. I liked how they got along this season. Fucking Michael! Omar was pretty cool this season too. ALSO, great to see the Russian again, albeit briefly.

Oh god, I was so deprived of entertainment at one in the morning that I actually watched part of a Bob Saget comedy special. He likes to swear and sing songs about dogs licking his balls. And it might have been funny, if he was actually, y'know, funny. But no such luck.
