Believe it or not, I've still got the first three episodes of Glam Metal Detectives on tape.  I liked it, as it was utterly ridiculous -and the stand-out moment of the entire series was Phil Cornwell's 'Mick Jagger does Shakespeare' skit.

This was before the days of Stella Street, obviously...

For your benefit, I'll quote my post again, Nathan Barley is a character featured on a spoof show on TVGoHome:

Do try to keep up.   :p

One of the minds behind TV Go Home, one Charlie Brooker (a collaborator with Chris Morris on "Brass Eye" ) wrote in the website's FAQ section rather cheekily that whoever asked this question is probably close to being Nathan Barley himself.  Charlie Brooker's words, not mine...      :D

But seriously, Barley is apparently representative of the sort of self-important, early 20s, middle-class Nineties male living off his parents' hard-earned cash, and into mens style magazines (he apparently edits his own style mag, "Nowbiter" for those like me who got the hilarious book version), stylish gadgets, fancy but empty media studies degrees, expensively spacious London flats, and indecent acts upon women of his age, that Brooker despises with a vengeance.  For want of a better word, the show's original title sums up the person.

Oh and why isn't GMD on DVD?

The 2nd episode of green wing kind of sucked, I find heaps character tiresome already. I don't really see what the point of some of the characters are, all the women that work in the office department don't seem to have any stories that are going anyway and it feels like I've missed loads of introduction to there characters.
If they did'nt bother with them at all and cut out all the stupid slow/fast motion stuff and the long music sections they could probably fit everything into a half hour show. and then the show would be tight and seem to have an actual focus instead of feeling like a sketch show.
The rest of the characters are just annoying because there arrogant twats or nerdy losers. Tamsin Gregs character perhaps is the only one that isn't supposed to be annoying. I realise there not aiming for you to sympathise with the characters but they could at least have some likeable features and actually be funny.

No no no no, (1) you shoulda waited for the 3 disk boxset with the Christmas Special in it, and (2) it's like Fawlty Towers, short, classic, and therefore not long enough to suck (eventually).

I'm looking forward to the Christmas Special DVD, it's got the full-length video of David Brents "If You Don't Know Me By Now".

They re-ran the Special last week, an hour and a half, no breaks.  The end still got me.

First time I watched Green Wing last night.  Enjoyed it, I think Mark Heaps character was hilarious, especially when he burst out of the cupboard, naked, playing recorder.

Heap does 'uncomfortable' very well, I think.

I saw a bit of it last night and thought it was really funny. is Heap the one with the Mars bar down his trousers? That doctor is the funniest in the show.

Hmm Green Wing was ok last night, I wouldn't say it's really bad but there's something about it that I just don't like.

Much like The All Star Comedy Show, Green Wing should work as it has all the correct elements to, but doesn't.

The Office is the best. David Brent's so funny. I like when Tim throws Gareth's stapler out the window, and Gareth says "What if that kills someone?" and Tim says "Well, the police will come to you because it's got your name on it!". Then in the next episode Gareth puts Tipp-Ex over his name on the stapler. I also like the one where David Brent is talking about celebrities, describing why they were named what they are, and he says that the "Pitt" in Brad Pitt stands for the pit of sadness and depression he endures everyday.

Ranks aren't there to give you a reason to post spam, if you shoot through the ranks quickly, people will respect you less and less as a PEELer.

Infact, go up too quickly and you'll have your post count reset or maybe banned.

Go ban yourself.

I'm a big fan of The Office, I'm liking Green Wing, still, I find that some of it reminds me of Jam, but with a single narrative.  However, I figure the episodes might be better at 30 minutes.

I'm quite a new fan of The Office really, I only saw it when the reruns happened sometime last year. I saw Ricky Gervais' stand-up show on C4 a few weeks ago - I switched over because it was just so unfunny...

I'm not much for humor from the place where the sun don't shine. But I saw Shaun of the Dead last weekend when it opened here in the states and I LOVED it! Best comedy I've seen this year, even better than ancorman. As a matter of fact it might be the best comedy I've seen in 6 years.

Seeing as I just got the "Look Around You" DVD, I chanced by the LAY BBC Website, and read that it may be coming back for another series.

Clicky

If no-one's heard of this, it's a spot-on parody of the 70's/80's Science For Schools programmes, and written by/starring Peter (Duane Benzie) Serafinowicz, and Robert Popper.

Saw some of Blackadder 2 yesterday, I'd almost forgotten how how funny it was. Captain Redbeard Rum is one of the best characters ever devised!
