Just thought I'd start a thread about my (other) favourite show: Spaced. For the uninitiated, Spaced is set around the lives of Tim (an unemployed comic artist, and comic store employee) and (unemployed Journalist) Daisy, (a pair recently dumped by their respective partners, and when they meet they decide to pretend to be a couple in order to get a flat), and their group of strange friends: Mike: Army obsessed, thrown-out of the TA for stealing a tank and trying to invade Paris. Brian: Tortured artist who lives downstairs. Marsha: Landlady, none the wiser to Tim and Daisy's lie. Twist: Sometime girlfriend of Brian, works in fashion (she works in a dry-cleaners). Colin: The dog. Best episode, is a tough one, I like two episodes in all (1) is the Rave Episode (episode 6) from Season 1, and (2) is the is Night Out Episode (episode 5) from Season Two. Spaced is loaded with movie/tv/book/music homages and references (the S2 DVD has an Homage-O-Meter which points them out at they happen). Anyone else seen/love this show? Discuss.

Nope. It has casual use of drug's, violence and blatent humor.
I always will love the one where Tim get's Resident Evil fatigue.

"Hey deadhead, take a bite o'peach!"
That's a good one, mainly for the appearance of Vulva (Brian's old performance-art partner), I like Brian's paranoid speech to the mirror:
"Brian. Painter. Loser. Big Fucking Loser!"
The Rave Episode wins, because of the introduction of "Tyres" (Tim's messenger), and the clubbing names at the end.

I love this show! I can't pick a favoiurite episode though, I love them all equally . The more you watch them ya see, you notice different jokes each time round, and even the "weakest" (I use that term lightly) episode becomes a classic. The jokes are often subtle, but there are also really big, slapstick, crude jokes which are often the best. Anyone who has the first season DVD, in the deleted scenes, watch the broccoli clip. As I say it's a bit crude and childish, but the pure randomosity of it is hilarious. Best Spaced moment ever. Go Spaced. I just hope there's a series 3. http://www.spaced-out.org.uk is the semi official website, for those who want to know more.

Here are all the best Spaced moments (for me): S1:Ep3 - "Art"The whole episode: Tim's "Resident Evil" fixation, Vulva, Brian's paranoia, Daisy's interview. It's all great. S1:Ep4 - "Battles" (The Paintballing Episode) Mike's "I've seen Combat" Speech. Here, in all it's gloryS1:Ep5 - "Chaos"Daisy's "Relationships are like sandwich toasters" speech. Tim: What she's saying is, chuck your boyfriend, have a sandwich. Brian and Tim's "cultural exchange" (Tim goes to an art gallery, and Brian comes over to watch The Star Wars Trilogy): Brian: "An entire Empire brough to it's knees my small furry creatures." S1:Ep6 - "Epiphanies" (the Rave Episode) The whole episode, is totally golden. S2:Ep1 - "Back"The Matrix Parody. S2:Ep3 - "Mettle"[/b] (The Robot Wars Ep) The beginning with the Robot's Eye View is a shot-for-shot homage to Robocop. S2:Ep4 - "Help"[/b] The reintroduction of "Tyres". The "Sixth Sense" homage with Mike and Tim in the van. S2:Ep5 - "Gone"[/b] Both the pretend gun-battle sequences are absolutely fantastic. S2:Ep6 - "Dissolution"[/b] The end sequence, when they're heading off to find Marsha, is a shot-for-shot homage to the end sequence of "The Empire Strikes Back" (including the end credits).

Oh, and the Spaced-Out Forum is the only one I've seen where the star of the show (Simon Pegg - "Tim" ) posts there.

Is there ever going to be a series three. I had a dream the other day that there was going to be a third series and then when I woke up I was really disappointed. I'm good at depressing myself.

The offical word is that there will be a series three. Simon Pegg says that Spaced has "three series maximum" and there will be no more after that. One wonders whether they'll go down the Tim & Daisy relationship route (I kinda hope not, well, only if it was done creatively and differently) - too cliche'd - but Simon did tell a journalist that it would end with everyone shooting each other dead, Blakes 7 Style. I forgot to add in my best moments is in Episode Five of Series Two: The scene with Duane Benzie (Peter Serafenowicz - The voice of Darth Maul) redoing his bit from Phantom Menace - "At last I shall have my revenge"

Well, at the moment the DVD's are on sale in the UK, so, if you order from Play.com, you get both seasons for £8.99 each.
Bargain.

It's you. That's the title I gave it.
ON-TOPIC: Another great Spaced moment: S1:Ep3
Daisy: So, who's this girl? Tim: Her name's Cassandra, she's a psychic, she gave me her phone number. Daisy: That's our phone number. Tim: Man, she's good.

I love watching Tyres dancing to the traffic lights at the end of one of the episodes, can't remember which. And yay! I'm so pleased to hear that they'll be another series. My prayers have been answered.

It's the episode "Help" from Second Series (when they rescue Tim's portfolio from DarkStar Comics).
Spaced gave us a great work catchphrase:
"Timmy, fetch me my tools!"

Okeydokey Nurdy*B, here's the full scene (from the Rave Episode):
Tim: (knocks on Brian's door, whipping noises are heard from inside) Brian: Can't come out. Tim: We're going to a club later, do you wanna come? Brian: I don't go to clubs. Tim: Oh come on, Brian, what do you mean, you don't go to clubs? Brian: I'm working, Tim. Working? Do you understand? Tim: No, sorry. Brian: Trying to avoid cliche's by not actually placing my brush on the canvas. Tim: Ah, right. Brian: I'm using my penis. Tim: Finally..... Brian: D'you want to see? Tim: Nah, I'm just about to have my tea.
In other news, fans of Spaced watch out for Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in "Shawn Of The Dead", a romantic zombie comedy movie (a RomZomCom?) which has just finish shooting.
Oh, and does anyone else watch Nick Frost (aka Mike)'s Channel Five show, "Danger: incoming Attack"?
