I loved the pics, and I wasn't joking. Futurama is fictional which is why I can support the ship, but in reallife I just can't see it happening.
It's fictional, but the writers don't create feelings that don't exist in real life and make them up for the characters... er.. yeah.. it makes sense in my head.  tongue

And you said you believe in love of a family kind.  Fry and Leela are practically family already.  And plus, mom's and dad's are part of families.  Or was it just silbing and parent/child love you meant there?  hmpf

And another shippy pic by FemmeJesse, because they all make me happy    love

I just meant sibling and parent/child. I don't think I've ever really seen love of the couply kind, so I find it hard to believe in.

Maybe those people are just lonely, and try to snag the first person they think is good enough.

This is quite a serious reply & maybe a little off topic:

I took a very similair view of things as Jle does now several years ago. There were various reasons for this principally that relationships people had seemed to be based on desperation, as in a deparate need for affection. I didnt really believe people fell in love.
Love isnt a whirlwind of romantic notions, nice words or fairytale weddings. These things are nice but the real measure of love is that you can stay together in the face of adversity. My wife and I went through some really major financial difficulties on the back of having an unexpected child and ill health. despite these practical really difficult times we stayed together and are stronger for that. This isn't romantic fairy tale stuff, but I believe the substance of which real love is made. This transgresses scenario as in parent child man woman, man man, woman woman, brother sister, the same thing is universal. A lot of couples probably don't have it cause a lot of the time we are looking for the wrong things in the wrong places.
Its easy I guess to put faith in a fantasy when the 'real world' seems to deny the possibility of real love.
Im quite drunk just now so please dont laugh at my ramble!

I can definitely think of couples that have or are married, and they seem like the least likely couples. I don't know why I should question it. I've never had a boyfriend.   hmpf

Fear of dying lonely is a very powerfull force in the human scheme of things, but isn't love.
I agree with you there is a lot of desperation about, and its sad that people hook up purely because of these fears.
Hold on there Emperor fry!

When I like someone I deny it up and down(if I'm asked). Because school relationships are meaningless to me. When I get out into the real world I'll start looking.

Love is four letters of doom. I hate it at school when I'm sitting at the lunch table, then there comes some girls saying," And he totally hooked up with her....." Then I'm just eating with a hate filled face stare.

One thing I can say with certainty as a certified old timer is that people talk so much shit at school to try and out do each other.
Did you ever see the film American Beauty, with that girl who was the friend of kevin spaceys daughter in the film, I forget the character names. Any she makes out she's hooked up with so many guys and in the end you find out shes a virgin, so so many people at school are like that, dont waste your hate filled face on them save it for a politician !

Hmmph. Young people and their petty, trivial concerns. no no  Treading the same old hackneyed ground, one generation after another...
If only humanity posessed clear access to the collective consciousness so that the young would be able to hold the accrued knowledge of all those who went before them, so they could ADD to that knowledge instead of boring everyone to death by going through the same agonizing crawl to attain that which has already been attained, time and time again...
Pfft... humanity still has a long way to go.   hmpf

Coldangel, once again makes a very good point. If humanity had a collective conscious then, we'd be so advanced that we wouldn't be talking on message boards.

But, you forget about the people who feel like they're only goal in life is to bring down others.  There are enough of those people out there that, even if humanity had a collective consciousness, I would avoid it.  Humanity, however, does not have a consciousness, so we created the internet.

Enough off-topic.  On with the shipping!

I was just taking a philisophical thought-provoking path to saying how young kids bore me to tears with their pointless crap.

Who here thinks Nibbler's reference to Leela being the 'other' means that she and Fry are destined to be together?
I think probably. Definately probably!

Yep. But they won't hook up right away. There  will be a long path to romance between them. In that way, the writers get to make more stories.

I had to go through Shippers Keep On Shipping's pics and admire most of them as for what they are. I think about some of the stories I've might have read or the pics I've seen all the time, when Im at work or whatever. I feel inspired and joyious when I think about Fry & Leela being together or angry and upset when Leela leaves Fry out to dry. It eats me alive when I think about how Leela treats or behaves torwards Fry in a negative way...  Yes, I know Im not the only one who feels this way, but in response to Decapodian's post about being a long path before they hook up, I don't see that as being entirely true. They could be dating and/or married and still have just as thrilling and halirious moments as they would if they wasn't going steady. After the opera performance, Leela has got to see Fry as being more than just a bud. This is how I see it, say as you will...

Oh yeah, and Xanfor, please post on this thread to officially make this a shipper thread...   wink

Whenever somebody says love doesn't exist, I just look at my parents.
Duh. They've been married for several, several years, get along perfectly, enjoy being together, and make loving gestures to each other all the time (but not of the sappy kind, heh). They've been together for decades, and they've always loved each other.

How the hell does love not exist?

And hooking up and love have nothing to do with each other in today's youth ("I'll just sleep with whoever I want and ignore the consequences" ). Those who think they are related are morons.

Some people who believe that love and hooking up aren't morons, as you so nicely put it, they simply haven't seen in anyother way. Not everyone has parents that are happily married you know.

I resent how you classed todays youth ("I'll sleep with whoever I want and ingnore the consequences" ) as I am part of today's youth and I haven't slept with anyone, let alone done it and said damn to the consequences.

I meant the majority of today's youth, I wasn't trying to classify every single person. I mean, I'M part of today's youth, and obviously I don't live by that statement I gave.

To me it equates to simply selfishness and not caring about the other person. Love is about caring, and people SHOULD be able to understand the importance of caring.
So some aren't morons, but they're certainly ignorant.

You got it, chief! -

Kinda late, but it had to be said.

To no one in particular: Don't badmouth true love until you've experienced it.  Even if your so-called honeymoon period seems to flash by in an instant you'll spend the rest of your life desperately trying to get back to it, or trying to drown out the pain of not being able to, or blissfully reminiscing about it .  That's how Ferrari, Seagrams and DeBeers make most of their money, respectively.

I always read way too much into these scenes. That one fascinates me. The one sure way to cause a guy to stumble is to give an unexpected "yes" to a goofy advance like that. That would sure make me stop and ask myself if she wanted me to pat her on the butt... if so I'd better do a good job - not too softly and not too firmly, or was she just being goofy back at me or is she using reverse psychology or, or...?
