I went to TLZ, but I do not see a Fanfic called "Fry's Choice" by Layla..., all I see is "Misery Loves Company".., am I missing something here?

Fry's Choice by Layla.  It's an unfinished work we hope will one day be finished.  Be prepared - it's long and very involved.  It is also very well written.

I'll help Ralph with this,  here you go.    Highlights are Layla's rocket skate story and Shiny's review of Layla.  Sadly  Layla never finished her main story, and was starting to struggle at the end.

As an aside, I've been looking for this thread for ages and just found it via Layla's thread.  In terms of solid fanfic advice and insight into F+L relationship it is one of the best.

Ok, then. I have a question in need of answering.  Is Layla's fanfic worth reading up to the final part? I ask this because I hate reading a fanfic with a dead ending. Know what I mean? Does it like, cut off in the middle of something suspensful? Regardless, thanks for the links, bro.

Geez WAV, put me in a potential flame position here...but I know what you mean.

I'd say all three of Layla's short fanfics in that thread are DEFINITELY worth the time (be sure to read the version of the skating story that has the epilouge).

"Fry's Choice" IMHO is one of top five best fanfictions on all Futurama boards.  I'd say the part up to where Leela decides to break Fry out of the hospital is nearly flawless (i.e. is a model for vivid and engaging prose), and then after that there were a few plot twists that struck a false note with me, but some sections are still incredible.  Once Munda is injured a deux ex machina appears and the story stops in a bit of a cliffhanger (these are only mild spoilers). 

But even if unfinished, I think you should read as much of it as you can.  Even the awkward parts are better than a lot of fanfics out there.  And then join the crowd waiting for her return!

I've sent Layla an e-mail that new people have discovered her fics.  I'm hoping that if she gets a few free moments she'll tie up a few arcs and give us an ending to her story.

I will say this:  Towards the end of what she's written, things don't look good for Leela...

Now that comment should make you read the dang thing.

Another great story is Background Noise, a story written by a Harley-riding brother of mine (not blood brother, just a Harley riding one).  He stated in an e-mail a few months ago taht he was going to try to wrap it up by August of this year, but real life concerns seem to have slowed him down.

Check it out - it is by far my favorite Futurama fan fic.

I thought that he had abandon it all together. I really like the way he writes Background Noise and I was somewhat disappointed when there wasn't anymore updates after Part 15.

I ask this question because I dont want to get involved with a fanfic that, at the last part, leaves a bunch of unanswered questions. That drives me out of my mind, and I hate it. Absolutely hate it. I did that with Rye Guy's fanfic "The Other", which may I say is a VERY brilliant fanfic and definitely worth reading, but at the end of the last part, still leaves so many unanswered questions. I know it isnt finished and Im sure Rye Guy is working on it still, but ROFL, I hate waiting    I guess what I'm saying is that I hate reading drama that cuts itself off, know what I mean? Now, my favorite fanfic I've ever read, in my own humble honest opinion, is Krieb's "The Best of Times and Worst of Times". It's realistic, funny, and makes the most sense out of mostly anything else I have read. I recommend it to every shipper out there. Ok. These are my thoughts and feelings, and my sermon is done now

Haha.  There's only one PEEL'er who has direct connections to DXC, and that's our benelovent dictator, mArc.

As for connections, I just took the initative to e-mail them and tell them how great I thought their stories and/or art contributions are.  As for Layla, I haven't heard from her in almost a year, but I did send her an e-mail two days ago.  Dave Vincent and I both love riding Harleys and plan to meet at Sturgis one day.  When his mother died last year, I was one of the first to send him a sympathy card via snail mail.  Little things like that will make friends with people very quickly.

You can make a lot of cyber-friends if you just drop them a personal e-mail and tell them how much you appreciate their contibutions.  I can count having e-mail conversations with people like Venus, El-Man (mainly an adult-material artist), Marcus, coldangel, PCC Fred, FemJesse, Layla, Dave Vincent, tnuk, Spacedal, SpaceCase, The Lesbian Leela, jle1993, and even a full-blown pissing match with Nerd-O-Rama.  There are others that I've had phone conversations with, but I won't include them because some of the topics can be personal info that they may not want getting out.

As for my 'source' to the revived Futurama, so much information about 'The Simpsons' movie is bogus, so I would have to guess that some of my info is questionable.  I do have it on good authority that Groening has retained complete control of Futurama and even though the themes and jokes will be for a more mature audience, it will not go the way of Family Guy and become vulgar.

The main thing is to extend the hand of cyber-friendship - you would be surprised how often it gets recipocated.

Good advice for life in general, not just cyberspace.  I've always thought that you were a real gentleman, Ralph, and now I have further proof.  I'm also glad Futurama plans to remain a PG-13ish non-Family Guy type of humor.  "The Beast of a Billion Backs" would otherwise give me pause...

I'm sorry to hear about Dave's mother--losing a parent is emotionally devastating, even when expected.

As for emailing people directly, I've always been hesitant to do that out of respect for privacy.  But then again, if people don't want to be contacted they wouldn't post an email address..

If my alzhiemers hasn't kicked in again today, if I remember correctly Layla is now teaching in some remote area of Canada and may not have active or reliable internet access.  Don't take it personally if you don't get an immediate response.  She's a real lady and decentg person - I've not known her to not respond - it just takes some time.
