I'd love to play that. If you lose do you get sucked into a different universe/dimension?

In one of the episodes, I think it was Fry and the Slurm Factory, Leela and the Professor are playing 3-D scrabble.

Letters placed ABOVE one another must spell words, downwards.

from his avy I assume flesheatingbull was aware of this but from the replies it's not clear everyone else does, so I'll explicitly point it out.

Tri-D chess is a Star Trek reference.

3d scrabble on the other hand... hmm... that's a hell of an idea. Visualization is the tricky bit... :runs off to scribble ideas:

Ya. Never noticed that before. Its not as cool as that one intro (forget which episode) where Fry and Bender are playing a sort of holographic chess with moving characters tho. I actually went on like a 2-hour google trek to look if soemthing like that had ever been invented. Sadly, it has not frown  cry

Sadly 'portrayed in a movie' does not (necessarily) imply 'been invented' (i.e. been invented yet, in real life).

Don't hate me, Trinity.  I'm just the messenger.

Very true, I guess what I meant to say was the idea has been thought of. I'm sure some SW fan somewhere has built one of their own.

It isn't "tri-dimensional," and it isn't quite holographic, but:

I'll just ooze back out under the door now - unless it's holographic, that is...

I had a dream where that happened, then I fell off the edge of the universe and ceased to exist...
