It wasn't because the network executives didn't like or didn't "get" the show. That would imply that they cared one way or the other about the quality of the show. They didn't. Network executives care about one thing, and one thing alone: the bottom line.Futurama

Think about it. Why are reality t.v. shows so common? Is it because the network executives think that people like them? No. Network executives don't really care what people like. They care that reality t.v. shows are cheap and easy to make, which makes them profitable.
