Luckly for me a WalMart just opened up in my neighborhood!  From what I hear WalMart sells the Futurama DVDs very cheap!

And tommorow I'm getting them!  I gotta see those deleted scenes!

I agree with what others have said about the Fry/Leela moment on the balcony in TDHAIP. Don't get me wrong, the scene as it was is sweet (and, if you like ambiguity when it comes to certain aspects of the ship, then I guess it's fine), but that scene extension just had to be there. I just love any moment when the two of them are showing genuine affection towards each other. (My general opinion on that episode is that it should have been an hour long--the characters and story needed more room to breathe.)

Same thing with the alternate Jelly Fry scene in "The Sting". I enjoy it because, again, Leela is showing genuine affection towards Fry. I would have kept the whole "I don't need a sponge!" and "Why am I all sticky and naked--did I miss something fun?" bit in there, but that kiss was just so damn adorable. Don't know what I'd cut out to get that part in (everything about "The Sting" is perfect...if you take even one second out of it, then there's a lot you're missing).

I just wish they'd kept the scene of Mom at the apefight in the "futurestock" episode.. she says her second best line that scene..

"make that bitch your bitch you bastard!"

Classic!

I don't think it was cut for the censor, not for time.

Yeah, and also, some of the scenes that were in the actual animatics weren't in the deleted scenes. For example, there was this scene I enjoyed watching in the animatic for Obseletely Fabulous where they are downgrading Bender, and the, uh, waterwheel robot, whatever her name is, is being passed the tools she asks for so she says: "...hammer, ...javel, ...WATER, OH GOD WATER!!!! (wish they hadn't cut that either)| So anyways, if they cut alot of things like that, that are in the animatic, but not the deleted scenes, imagine what we're missing in episodes that don't come with the animatic!

I'm pretty sure that's Raging Bender. Funny though...

Maybe that's because you never owned the DVDs.

Aw, crap.  I searched this thread out to post a couple of goofy deleted scenes I like(Zoidberg ignoring Leela in Time Slippin' and Scruffy calling out "Iron Joe" to cheer him up with a spinning plate in Pharoh), but Gorky's post reminded me that I really and truly love the show for the Fry/Leela story. I love those scenes for the same reason and Leela's "mmmm...honey glazed" comment is beyond sexy.  I'm gonna be sick if they don't let that relationship develop further in the new episodes.

*Bumping-a-thread-in-which-no-one-has-posted-for-five-years-because-that's-how-I-like-to-spend-my-Friday-nights BUMP!*

Two deleted scenes I really love, and wish had made it into the final cuts of their respective episodes:

1. The extended exchange between Leela and Zoidberg in "Time Keeps on Slipping":

Leela: I don't want to push him away, but I just don't think I love him.
Zoidberg: Do you love me?
Leela: No!

Not only do I love the disgusted way in which Leela rebuffs Zoidberg--I kind of like the way she explains her feelings for Fry. TKOS is brilliant without this moment, but I just feel like that teensy bit of extra insight into the workings of Leela's head and heart would have been nice to have.

2. This isn't even a deleted scene so much as it is a line-extension, but I love Leela's response to the hostility she finds in the parallel universe in "The Farnsworth Parabox": "I just fell into the box and then I fell out somehow. And then you people showed up here with your cuh-razy colors, and started ragging on me." I mentally add that second sentence whenever I watch that episode. It's just a really funny line-reading, and I enjoy it immensely.

And, on the topic of moments that never were: In the commentary for "Rebirth," DXC describes his original notion for the first episode of season six. The crew winds up in a zoo in some other universe, with forced mating and Leela/Fry/Zapp shenanigans, and it just sounds like it would have been a really cool episode. I liked "Rebirth," of course, but parts of it felt like a rehash of "The Sting" and "I Dated a Robot." That zoo idea, meanwhile, seems like it could have been quite original and hysterical. But I guess parts of it were kind of recycled for "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela" anyway. So it goes.
