Here's a question for the many, many people without lives who listen to the DVD commentaries, watch the deleted scenes and animatics, and look at the storyboards and scripts included on the 4 Futurama DVDs.  ;)

Have you ever seen or heard about a scene/joke/plot twist that wasn't used in an episode and thought "Dammit, the episode would've been much better with that in"? If so, what was it?
(And as a bonus question, what would you have cut in order to fit it into the episode?)

I personally would've liked to have kept the deleted scenes with the Professor and Flexo in Bendless Love. Although I'm not sure what I'd cut in order to keep them. Eric Horsted's episodes always have a lot of good dialogue in them.

i would have kept every single shippy moment they never used and would have cut out any and all lame jokes in order to fit it in. For example, in devils hands i would have added that cute little deleted scene and cut out one of hedonism bots scenes. Or in the sting i would have added the honey glazed scene and cut out the random Bender on fire moment.

What about the bee landing on the flower scene that Brian Sheesley mentioned in the commentary for The Sting? Not shippy as such but cuter than the final ending.

im an american so i don't have the dvd set so i havn't heard of that scene but if what your descrubing is what i think your describing, and a bee comes out of nowhere and lands on the flowers at the foot of her bed i would not like that ending at all cause it would indicate that she didn't wake up and was actually still in her coma which would have been horrible.

I don't know about the honey-glazed scene. "Why am I sticky and naked? Did I miss something fun?" is a lot cuter and more in-character for Fry in my opinion.

I actually have no idea what the scene looks like. Here's what they said in the commentary (with spoiler tags for people who don't want to see it yet):

Make of that what you will. I just assumed it was a cuter ending he was referring to.

With Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch, there was a lot of good stuff cut out, but to me it feels like in order for that episode to have been a classic with that storyline it would've had to have been an hour long.   :( So I would've tried a different plot.

I'm with Venus and Teral, the deleted scene from "The Devil's Hands..." should have been in the episode.

And I have to say I disagee, since I prefer the more ambiguous nature of the ending without that scene.

I would've liked Mrs. Mellinger's description of "stupid fingers" to have remained though, just 'coz I find it so humourous that the Robot Devil took music lessons from her. Oh well.  :laff:

And yes- more Leg-mutant jokes. Does he have a name?

I know that feeling. I got up at 10am went to bed at the 10am. Got up at 3pm. And still here. And the day before, I went to bed at 6am. I don't think it's healthy.
And back to the topic: next, please!

I don't own Season 4 (damn Reigon 1!) yet. But that deleted scene from "Devil's Hands.." that I've been hearing about really needed to be in there. It would've been a nice touch.

I think Danes might all be creatures of the night.

Anyway, I have to go with Venus et al. and vote for deleted scene with Fry and Leela from The Devil's Hands. So very cute.

The deleted scene in '30% Iron Chef' which is an extention of Zoidberg walking in the room with the coat on and everything in his jacket is great...

I thought the end credits of tonight's Spanish Fry episode sucks! I think it's better if they put it on the beginning of the Birdbot Of Ice-Catraz episode where it's really belong.

As for the cuter Sting ending, I would agreed that would been a cuter ending with the bee on the flower one. But, that shower thing still give me a smile every time I see it.   :)

It would have been interesting if the serial number thing mentioned on the Bender Gets Made commentary was used, but it would have made a lot of people quite pissed off.
The only truly great deleted scene I know of (bear in mind I only have season 1 and 2 on DVD so far) is Mom's line from Raging Bender. I can understand why it was cut, however...

There was an extended scene in My Three Suns that they mention in the Commentary in which everyone tries to make Fry cry out the Emperor by telling him their depressing stories. I would love to hear the Zoidberg and Hermes stories.

All I have so far is seasons one and two but...

X-Mas Story and Raging Bender both had some really great deleted moments.  I'm not sure what I would take out though.  There's probably the odd line in Raging Bender that could be sacrificed to hear Mom say "Make that bitch your bitch you bastard!".

Sometimes they cut scenes that would have made the story make more sense, like the bit in "Xmas Story" where we find who sent Fry his card, or the extended explanation about future movies in "Raging Bender."

Also, they've cut at least two scenes in which characters specualte if Leela is pregnant.  I guess they didn't want fans to really wonder about that.  (They also cut the scene in "The Series has Landed" that implies Bender impregnated the Crushinator, though their child showed up in an issue of the comic book.)

Agreed. That was great. On a season 4 tip, here's two more things I'd like to have kept in:

In Crimes of the Hot there was a deleted scene where Fry explained why he was wearing a wooly hat when it was so hot, but in the finished episode, he's wearing the hat and its not explained why! It's not really that bad but it's a bit stupid!

From "Where No Fan Has Gone Before"

(While fleeing from Melllvar, Leela is at the helm Zapp and Bender (carrying Shatner's head-in-a-jar stand next to her)
Zapp Brannigan: "Leela, this situation call for testosteron! Straight up, no cleavage. Anything else would be sabotage."

Cut the Jim Carrey movies joke.

I know, infact I'd actually prefer three and four over one and two (although I want to eventually own them all).  I just don't have three and four yet since they haven't been released in the States.

The deleted scene in Xmas Story where Dr. Zoidberg doesn't get Conan O'Brian's jokes. Okay, so it wasn't that funny - but it makes his "We can only hope!" line later on in the episode a lot funnier.

Hell no! That one was so damn funny! Also what they said about it in the audio commentary.
And hedonism bot was great too.

I'd have liked The Honking even more if they had left that scene in where the Professor asks how many innocent people will have to die and Bender shouts "Not enough!". That's sooo great!  :D

I don't really like the deleted scenes that much. With deleted scenes of practically every show or movie, I find why they were deleted: because they suck! I'm in the US, and from what I've heard from that honey scene in "The Sting," thank God they cut that out. Although some of these cut scenes from seasons 3 and 4 seem good, maybe when the DVDs are released here, they'll change my mind.
Also, you can't cut out the random Bender on fire! That's random comic genius!

My favourite deleted scene that they should've kept is the scene from a Pharoah to Remember when Scruffy s spinning a plate on his broom...
That line makes me laugh every time I see it, it's just so random...

What I would have cut to fit that in? Commercials!   :p

i always thought the clown joke cut from parasites lost was a dissapointment, however, trying to remember, they had to cut 10 or so minutes of that epsiode to make it fit. it's a real shame that the DVD's don't have ALL the deleted scenes, e.g. the ones that were written but never animated, even if it was just a script showing them.

Okay, there was the TKoS one, but what were the other(s)?

Anyway, I would have kept the honey glazed and talking planets moments in The Sting, at the expense of Leela's sponge lines, and maybe some of the conversation at the beginning.
