The contest could also be the Trek Trivia one with Melllvar... but it has been too long since I have seen the episode for that to help me...

It has come to my attention that this question is far too hard, so I'll tell you that the contest I'm referring to is in WMIBACIL.

Hmmm..i know it's frustrating to have no one guess the correct answer yet, but we're trying our best!
I don't see how a phrase that a hippy might say helped Fry win the fight to the death.  Unless hippies say 'frenzy', in which case it was the fact that the frenzy started is what saved Fry in the contest.  But Fry lost his arm, and that somehow gave him the upper hand in the battle... but what about a spice weasel?  oh and I still have th X-mas give to figure out.
In the battle, Fry wanted peace, right?  Hippies say "Peace" right?  People wish for world peace for X-mas!  Of course!  And the Spice Weasel....um..the spice weasel... aw crap.

You may want to read the first sentence of this post again...  confused

Could we have the question and all the clues re-posted for the new page, if it isn't too much to ask?

Right, a re-iteration of the clues.
What connects
-Something a hippy might say
-Kitchen Implement
-Xmas Gift

We know that the kitchen implement is a spice weasel, and that the hippy thing helped Fry in WMIBACIL.

The phrase gave Fry a head start, and it's something a certain hippy likes to say a lot.

Take your time, makes no difference to me    smile.

Animals?
Kitchen Implement: Spice Weasel
Xmas Gift: Parrot
...do hippies guess what animal other hippies are thinking of?

Only contest I remeber in WMIBACIL is the Clawphagh (sp?) And in that Fry is assisted by an giant nutcracker, edna's scream and his own arm. Now I can't rember any hippies making coments about arms, nutcrackers or Edna so I'm lost on that one.

Only (major) hippy I remeber is Free Waterfall Jr. But he is only in one ep.

Xmas gift could still be anything.

This one is really getting to me!   smile

Edit: Shadowstar, you're on to something. I'm sure

Yay! Shadowstar has it! The hippy reference was rather obscure. Basically, Free Waterfall Jr. likes to say 'shut up!' and:

Edna: I just want to say that today I got up and had a piece of toast. Then I brushed my teeth -
Fry: Shut up!
Edna: I love you Fry!
Decapod Emperor: Fry, having guessed what animal I was thinking of...

.....that was an extremely weird question. I SHALL ASK ANOTHER.
What connects...
"A Flight to Remember"
"WMIBACIL?"
"Bendin' in the Wind"
"300 Big Boys"
I hope I'm not missing any.

Wow, nobody has even guessed yet... well, all I can think of is that in the last three, somebody drives a non-space vehicle at some point... but  that happens other times and I can't think of a connection in A Flight to Remember... so, that was a really bad guess...

Bender is in a land vehicle?
AFTR: Car with the countess
WMIBACIl: Crab car
Bendin' in the wind: Beck's tour bus/ old car
300 big boys-I haven't seen this episode...

Bender steals something but gives it back?
Flight to remember-Countess's diamond
WMIBACIL: 'So I returned the guy's heart and that's how I became known as honest Bender'
Bendin' in the Wind: The cheque.
And again I haven't seen 300BB - but does it involve the cigar?

It doesn't quite fit in with Goldfish's theory but in 300BB, Kif "steals" some ambergris and gives it back.

Well, he WAS going to steal it, but didn't because he loved her.  Anyway, he doesn't keep it.  He throws it away, revealed in "Amazon Women in the Mood"

Cause it wasn't worth squat. Otherwise he would have hocked it for booze money.

My guess is "Some sort of weired/new veichle":
"A Flight to Remember"> The Titanic
"WMIBACIL"> Crabcar
"Bendin' in the Wind"> Wolksvagen van
"300 Big Boys"> That weird wingedbicycle that Kif and Amy "drove".

I was thinking that, but there are plenty other "Zoidberg saves the day" options (HHRHGB for example).

It would really help if I'd seen 300BB, but SOMEONE steals/is about to steal something and gives it back. I also have these which don't quite fit in:
Zoidberg is revealed to have a special abiltity/feature (WMIBACIL, BITW (possibly his strength in AFTR))
Bender gets injured/attacked (AFTR, BITW)

Is it that the title is a rip-off of a song?

A Night to Remember
Why Must I Be A Teenager in Love?
Blowing in the Wind
And something that sounds a bit like 300 Big Boys, I can't think of what that could be...

And in the highly probable event that that's wrong, can we have a clue?

Since Shadowstar hasn't been on to confirm/deny any of these guesses for quite some time, the 72-hour rule comes into effect.

What connects:

I Second That Emotion
The Lesser of Two Evils

Insane in the Mainframe
