And the spinning of the basketball on the Professor's head makes me groan.

I actually got a big kick out of that. It goes for so long and the professor has no reaction whatsoever!

Plus, it's arguably background humour (or, at least a visual gag that they don't overtly call attention to). The plot still progresses while it's happening, so even if you hate it, it's not quite as bad as several lines of dialogue taking up the episode for a shitty joke.

I think basically the entire third act of The Cryonic Woman would fit in this category. The scenes with Butch and the other kids and then the extended L.A. jokes always make me cringe.

The whole entire episode of "Yo Leela Leela".
Eh, I'm not really a fan of that episode myself, but I did get a laugh out of the SpongeBob joke. I haven't watched that show since I was about 10, so I kind of forgot about it.

Other than the mentioned verbal abuse gag, the entire episode of TFHS obviously qualifies.

Almost all the lines Randy(i?) said during this season.

I gotta agree with sparkybarky, those lines were utterly useless and unfunny.

What has Randy even said this season? Frankly, the only time I've ever found him funny was in Overclockwise; and that was more to do with what Fry was saying.

Speaking of Randy, I just remembered the gag in SMFP where Randy pops out of Horrible Gelatinous Blob to protest. Not only is this completely out-of-nowhere and unfunny, I actually question whether or not it was meant to be a joke.

I thought the "Caluclon's back?!" callback was perfect. Other than that (and Overclockwise), I don't really remember any Randy moments this season?

In 2D Blacktop, the police hovercar ran right in between him and another guy holding hands, and he yelled "Ironic!".

Saturday Morning Fun Pit, during the second act he was inside HGB and poked his head out and said something so stupid and unmemorable, that I don't even remember what he said. And then later he yelled "It's too violent!" in the GI Zapp act.

I actually liked seeing the Blob again. And normally, they would eat somebody when they are angry/happy with them. We can only imagine that he was angry with him, and who can blame him?

And in Game of Tones, when he was outside the PE building, a brick hit him in the head and he said "Suing!", and then was later crushed by the PE logo sign that is normally outside the door.

Yeah, those were unnessecary and unfunny, other than "Calculon's back". He shouldn't be used too much, because if the joke doesn't fit in the situation or isn't subtle enough, it won't be funny.

Yeah, those were pretty terrible. I think I just blocked them from my memory. :p

"Calculon's back" made Randy's entire existence worth it, though.

I think Mom cured Leela's DNA, so that means Susan is dead.
Also her egg laying and elbow talons should stop now.
So those jokes don't bug me anymore.

But they did at one point.

I'm sure there are lots of worse jokes that I'm forgetting, but the one that instantly comes to mind is that awful, drawn-out Billy West gag from "The Silence of the Clamps".

Really? A single line is drawn out?

Personally, I love that joke. It's far from subtle, but it's a fun little gag that only those who follow the show closely will get.

insert insightful commentary here

Yes, Snake. That's exactly what I was talking about.

And for the record, though lots of people seem to hate the "Sex with Zapp!" line, I personally am tickled by it.

To this day, my least favorite line on Futurama is probably this one from Less Than Hero.

Nine, ten. A big fat hen. The name's Bender.

I know the original nursery rhyme, but it just makes zero sense in the context of the scene and barely even makes any sense as a joke, or even just any sense at all. I groan every single time I see it.

Amy: Aw, come on, Leela. Deep down all girls wanna be Miss Universe.
Leela: Not me.
Amy: Really? Maybe it's just cute girls.

Awful, and Amy's worst moment...

I don't think that saves it. It's not a bizarro joke where the non- sensicalness of it is the joke, but I guess just something they thought would be funny for Bender to randomly say for no reason. Regardless, it isn't funny, which is a shame because most of that episode is fine. Not a classic, but fine.

I love that bit, but I don't know why. I know I shouldn't but it's just so incredibly random and, in my opinion, hilarious. (and "the name's Bender" just tops it off perfectly).

Aside from the hideously crammed in "emotional abuse" "joke", I really hate the bit in ITWGY when the worm keeps biting Leela, went on too long and it wasn't even funny the first time.

I second that. It kind of gave me a horrible image of Leela in my mind.

The infomercial from Benders Game. Now THAT was a long drawn out gag.

I agree it wasn't funny first, but I liked it after 3rd time or something and it just kept going. I found it funny by its repetitiveness and unexpectation at some point. I actually liked it.

That was good, but little too long, yes. It's basically hard to fail with spoof of infomercial otherwise.
